Could anyone help please. I have just bought a beogram 1202 secondhand and was told it was working but I have tried to play a record and the following happens.

The turntable moves round very slowly

I can get the stylus to go onto the record and can hear a very quiet sound even though it is connected with a pre amp to my speaker system.  There is very loud distortion noise coming from the speakers with the music very quiet.

Could anyone please give some ideas what could be wrong

thank you

Take a look here forget the 60 Hz part. you will need a new belt, and a throughout cleaning and lubricating of the BG, even open up the motor and clean the bearings properly and add new oil, then check all the wiring from the cartridge to the 5 pin DIN plug. The contacts inside the deck will also need cleaning, if after all this you still have distorted sound coming  from the pickup, you will probably need to get the pickup repaired.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
