So the analogue switch off has happened and the old CRT TV we had in the kitchen no longer works. We could of course buy a set top box or connect it to the Sky HD box in the living room (and in fact I will be running HD distribution from the Sky box in there soon) but I'd like a TV that will also work with digital/freeview.
I'd like to buy (secondhand) a small B&O TV, something like the Beocenter 23, but I can't seem to find out whether any of these TVs have a DVB tuner. Can anyone recommend a solution that doesn't involve a separate box??
How about a DTV Scart adaptor? This is a small box that plugs into a Scart socket, and effectively converts the tv to digital. If you get a Logitech remote control too,you can have one handset to operate the tv ,converter and Sky box, neato?Dtv via a crt tv telly is impressive too.
I've used this solution for several people who have cherished B&O telly's still capable of good service.

Nick
Thanks for this info Nick, I didn't know those things existed! But although it would get the job done, it's exactly the kind of glommed-on solution I was trying to avoid. I was hoping there might be a small B&O TV with at least a DVB/freeview module available that could be fitted within the TV.
Basically the appeal of a B&O TV is mainly the high build quality and neatness of appearance - they're the only TVs that look good from the back! If that is gone, then may as well have an easier life and go for a brand new Sony or some such with state of the art freeview HD tuner built in. And I really hate those logitech remotes! Was hoping to use a Beo5!
But thanks for offering a solution anyway.
Best
Greg.
This small receiver is for the scart-input too, but you could paint it black so it isn't visible on the first look.
It can be controlled with Beo4/5/6.

Or link the small set to the main room and use the set top box in there. I use an LX6000 which utilises the STB in the main room via link and it works seamlessly with no boxes. All works with a Beo4.

Hey Martin, thanks for this info. Good that it works so well with B&O, bad that there's still a big dongle sticking out the back!
Hey Peter, thank you for this info. Are you using a B&O proprietary link? I have no B&O TV system currently in this house. There's a Pioneer plasma and Sky HD box in the living room but no connection yet to the kitchen. I was planning to add an HDMI splitter and distribution so as to link using Sky's 'magic eye' to the Sky box and get HD picture, but in the meantime was hoping to just plug a TV into the aerial feed that's already in the kitchen and get a freeview picture. Do no small B&O TVs have a digital tuner??
Anyway thanks again for the help and pointers!
Don't kill me if this isn't correct but I think the smallest B&O TV to have the DVB-HD tuner is the Beovision (or Beocenter) 6-26.
How do you controll this with beo5. I have a beovision3 I'd like to use this with.
Thanks
I did wonder if the Beocenter 6, being relatively recent, had a DVB tuner - but from what I could see it wasn't listed in the specifications.
Maybe an optional module with the 6-26? If so, and I can find a Beocenter 6-26 with one fitted, that could be the perfect solution.
Thank you for this information, I definitely won't kill you!
