I have a Beovision 5 which I bought "second life/ex display" from B&O in Bournemouth back in 2008. I had the TV delivered and installed at my home in Exeter. I asked for the STB controller to be updated and when the installers delivered the TV they put the new chip in it would not work. They spent ages trying to sort it but couldn't and had to leave to get back to Bournemouth. They were very apologetic at having to leave the job unfinished.

B&O Bournemouth were brilliant and arranged for our local B&O technician to look at the TV for us. It took him about 10 visits and we had 3 new chips. He was on the phone to B&O Struer each time and eventually he had to change the TV chassis as nothing seemed to work with the old chassis and the STB chips. That did the trick and we have been really happy with the TV since.

On Saturday night we had a power-cut! When the power came back on I tried to put in the PIN for the TV and it would not work. I contacted B&O Bournemouth by email this morning and very quickly they confirmed that the PIN I had was the correct one for the old chassis but gave me a number that matched the new chassis to try. That did not work, so i phoned at 5.15pm to say it had not worked and they said they'd contact B&O to get the master PIN, but as it was so late in the day it was likely to be the next day.

I got an email to confirm they had asked for the master PIN codes for both chassis just in case and would contact me as soon as they had them. Within 5 minutes of the email I had a phone call to say B&O had responded and I was given the two PINs and the one for the new chassis worked.

I was so happy with the excellent service, the pleasant manner of Allen, the store manger, and the fact that he dealt with such a minor issue to him (but major to me) so quickly whilst keeping me fully up to date. It was especially pleasing as I bought the TV over 5 years ago as a "one off" from that store (it being so far away).

It just shows that the excellent service I received initially is still there today and warrants some recognition.

It's really nice to hear a good story about a dealer and their support instead of the usual tales of woe. Not that it's not useful to know the bad news too, but a good dealer needs to be talked about too...

Jeff

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

agree it's good to hear good service and we should always champion such efforts.

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

Al is a top bloke - we speak regularly and he always makes me chuckle.  He's a good egg.

There are some really good dealers out there...  Not many, but some.

Like Stoobie, I live in Exeter and I would just like to mention the warm welcome I always receive on my relatively rare visits to the local Exeter shop. Matthew Dibley (who Lee knows well I believe) is always friendly and welcoming even though he is well aware I am not really in the market for anything new and I am hardly a big spender - my purchases in the last 6 years have been limited to 2 pairs of A8s and a replacement Beolink 5000!

Wow, who knew there were so many beoworld members in Exeter Smile

It doesn't sound like Matthew is going to get rich any time soon as a result of us lot as my purchases so far from the Exeter store have amounted to a couple of replacement top caps for my BL8000s and a pair of frets for my BL4000s (although I am seriously contemplating a BS5 as soon as my tax rebate arrives), but like Cleve I also have nothing but praise for Matthew and his staff - I have always received a very warm welcome and excellent service which wasn't always the case prior to him running the store and I think we can all be quick to complain when we don't receive good service but not always so quick to point out when we have.

Maybe all us Exeter folk could make an effort to meet up next time there is a product launch event or similar at the store - or on the other hand maybe we best leave room for those who are actually likely to buy something Wink

Martin.

Martin I always believe in the best way to advertise is to have new and unbelieving customers meet existing customers, maybe we can be hired out as ambassadors.

I work for good coffee :-)

Another Exeter person here! I bought a Beosound 1 from the Exeter store about six years ago. Just noticed it's stopped playing any cds-probably had about 20 hours use in all that time! I don't tend to go in there very often as I'm very happy with my beocenter 9000 and my beovision 5.
