Hi from Greece,
I just bought a pair of beolab 5 with no synch port (sn 16......)
I would like to know if it would possible to use their spdif digital input.
Is there any way to be sure that both speaker operate at the same volume level?
So far I am using the line in putting the speakers volume level at max but I would like to avoid the adc convertion.
(I have a beo4)
Thank you in advance.
Nikos
Any master present?
Afaik, you will be able to set up the BL5 in special mode for use with Beo4. An extra powerlink between them for sychronizing the audiolevel.
Beo4 is working fine.
Are you sure that I can synchronize the volume level using a powerlink cable between the speakers?
Thank you for your time
ok,
reading old excellent posts ftom member soundproof found that...
I have to use a b&o cd/system with powerlink cables to control the volume of bl5.
The spdif out of my server will override any analog signal from the powerlink cables.
so now I have to buy a b&o cd system just for volume control...
Any affordable suggestions?
Thank you...
Try to get a manual.
I should have mentioned the "sync" socket instead of the Powerlinksocket. Sorry.
Here's a picture:
I highly recommend you to buy an old Beomaster 4500, 6500 or 7000. The issue that the beolab 5 only opens the SPDIF port when they receive the command “CD” over the fully wired powerlink cable. I made a lot of tests with my Beolab 5 regarding this topic. My Beolabs have SW 2.61 and I’m using them with the Sync cable. I also used them with a Beomaster 6500 and it worked fine.
The Beolab 5 uses the same data wire as the Beolab Penta for the information on the display.
Beobuddy try to read my first post.
Beolab 5 with serial 16something has no synch ports
Carlito thank you so much...
Is it possible to use only a Harmony Ultimate remote, without a Beomaster 4500 etc? Maybe you can control the volume on both BL 5 without a synch cable? The Harmony hub send orders from the remote in a large area.
Beolab 5 are compatible with this universal remote (I use it with me BS 9000)
Samsung PS64F8500, Beosound 9000, 2 x Beolab 1, Beolab 7-4, Beolab 2, 2 x Beolab 4000, Beolab 3500, 2 x Beo 4, Emotiva UMC-200, Oppo BDP-103D, Panasonic DMR BCT-730; Harmony Ultimate.
I agree with Carlito. If you want to add a Beomaster, get a BM7000 or 6500 and a BG CD7000 (if you want to listen to CD).
The CD7000 is a superb machine with a direct spdif output, that can be activated by pressing CD on your Beoremote.
Sounds better than BS9000 connected via spdif (don`t ask me why, but it`s noticable).
Get fully wired Powerlink cables. Set your BL5s to L.OPT 0.
Now the BL5s will be controlled via Powerlink through your Beomaster. If you select CD, the CD input of your BM will be opened and the BL5s will check for digital signal. Volume level and Power on/off will also be controlled (in sync) via Powerlink.
Even an MCL2 AV should work as an audiomaster. It`s a little white box (to be hidden away) with three DIN inputs, A.MEM - CD/PHONO - AUX/TV if I remember correctly. You have to connect a separate IR receiver and a 15V psu. Works like a Beomaster, no additional master necessary.
And it is cheap...
Hope this helps
Stefan
Stefan, thank you very much!
how do I connect the mcl2 av to the beolab 5s?
It doesn't have powerlink outs...
edit... Just found that it has power link....
thanks again...
Could I use the beolink active instead?
