Hi,

My cdx has the usual playing disc problems, ie plays for a bit then either stops or goes crackerly and fuzzy or won't play at all, the positive side it does have a working lid after swapping it over using a donor machine!

Now after reading lots of posts on here I'm not alone. The frustrating thing is that when it does play it sounds much better than my other player (3500) which by the way is reliable.

Hope you guys out there can help?

Ps I'm uk based and my practical skills are almost non existent!

Hello!

The CDX is easy to work on and since you already managed to replace the door you definitely don't have two left hands - or right hands if you're a leftie!

You will have to reflow the grounding rivets (griplets chez Philips) between the two sides of the servo board, by inserting a thin piece of wire through. Also check every single solder joint, especially around the PSU area where things do get quite hot!

I bet the player will work fine after that.

Jacques
