So I may be able to get a good deal on an MMC cartridge that needs repair and I am wondering where in the United States could perform this service. Also, would you recommend repairing or should I just go with a SoundSmith cartridge?

Not in the US but I sent my totally broken MMC 20 CL to Axel in Germany (Axel MMC cartrige on google) and I am very happy with the result ! He repaired it in one week ;). you can see the result on my thread "washing records".

I think it is maybe not too expensive to send it to him from the US (but there is maybe an Axel in the US or Canada also ;)).

Why particular USA ?

I am just particular to the US because I live in the middle of it and am just thinking of shipping costs. But I guess for something so little that shipping wouldn't be too bad.

Bobby Amina and Sound Smith are the only two recommendations that come to mind.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

Soundsmith only repairs MMC-1's and 2's and ONLY if the cantiver/stylus are still intact.  Cost: $295.

If Benny Amina can't fix it, he may have an already repaired unit on hand he can sell you.  This was my first experience with Benny, and I do like his MMC4 I have on an RX2.  Wow, that goes back 4+ years already.
