I have been using the 2-way function of the Beo6 remote connected to a BeoMaster 5 for some time. Had a general power failure. Everything went back to normal functioning (TVs, BM5, network etc), but all my remotes can no longer access the media list of the BM5 despite the remotes connecting normally to the BM5.
When I select N.MUSIC, it starts BS5 and/or the connected TVs/speakers, the remote is trying to access the BM5 files, but after a few minutes searching got an "unable to connect" message.
This happens with all of Beo6 remotes, which tends to indicate that I missed something with the BM5 setup or???
Does anyone have an idea of what went wrong?
Have you checked if IP address on Beo 6 corresponds to IP of BM5 ?
Maybe BM5 IP changed after power failure? This IP has to be configured in Beo6.
Yes, the IP of the server of the Beo6 corresponds to that of the BM5, and like I said the connection establishes, after I exit the service menu of the remote, the WiFi sign shows on the top right corner. Everything seems fine, but when I select N.MUSIC the remote is unable to access the media files of the BM5.
Have being doing this many times in the past, but here I have no clue why it doesn't work anymore.
Unless you have configured a custom netmask at the router, your Beo6 and the BM5 seem to be on different subnets (192.168.100.x versus 192.168.1.x) so broadcast IP traffic won't typically work between them. Is the BM5 connected to wired network instead of WiFi?
I have no experience with either system, so I don't know if it is possible to make it work with different subnets, but in any case I'd expect it to need some configuration at the router so that the systems can communicate with each other.

versus 192.168.1.x
And by 1 you mean 0, right?
But yes, your reasoning sounds about right.

I believe the answer is in your router configuration, which we don't know anything about. The Beo6 gets its IP via DHCP from a device that is serving the IP numbers somewhere, and so does the BM5 (unless you have configured it to a fixed IP number).
You either have now two DHCP servers in your network, or the router serves two different subnets - possibly one for WiFi clients and another for wired clients. That's sometimes a desired setup to isolate the wireless clients from the rest of the network (only allowing access to outside world through the router).
Unless you have already done so, I would start by 1) rebooting your router 2) then the BM5 3) then the remotes to rule out any transient problems with how they came back up after the power break. If it still doesn't work, I guess it's time to start going through the router config.
Hello, I am happy to know you got to fix the problem.
I just wanted to adk you that:
As myself too own a beosound 5 / Beomaster5 and a remote Beo6, I would like to use the remote to command the Beosound 5 (with net music and net radio); you know that with the Beo4 is not good (you can not choose the song or the album, but just advance one by one.
So I tried to set the Beo6, following the instructions found in the B&O Website, but it doesn't work.
Did you set up the remote by yourself or the B&O assistance did it?
All the best
