Hi
can anyone give me step by step instructions on how to be able to download music from iTunes onto the SD card so that I can actually play them on a Beosound 3. It's beaten me!
BeoNut since '75
Mavericks, and I use the dedicated Sd card slot on the iMac.
I use(d) the "export to MP3"-function in iTunes, then copied the MP3-version to the SD-card. But please remember to delete the MP-songs afterwards, if not you will end up with each track twice in iTunes. Eventually I found this to be too time consuming and bought a BeoLit 12 in addition to the now-FM-only-BS3 :-)

You are right. Sounds very time-consuming. No quicker way?

Thanks for that but I am afraid I hardly understood any of it 'not at root level, one folder deep etc'. The bottom line is, how can I download itunes music onto an SD card so that I can play it on Beosound 3? Sorry for not understanding these terms

I dont know what the BS3 supports for formats, but MP3 with higher (160) or higher (192) from the import settings in itunes should work,
So just switch your import preference in itunes, then hold the option (mac) or shift (windows) key and choose create version from the itunes file menu, it will ask you for a destination, just point it to the SD card which should show up in your finder or explorer or whatnot.
Just be sure to adjust your import settings afterwards, in case you rip a CD for other purposes. if you just download, you dont have toa ctually worry about that
cheers

I think (guessing here) that certain SD cards are not supported, and only older (and smaller) ones will work. What type of card are you using and how is it formatted?
Beolit 12 - Beolab 4 pc (dead now) - Beoplay H5 - Beolab 9 - BeoRemote One BT - Beoplay M3
Thanks for all helpful replies. I'll let you know how I get on!

I believe it only supports up to 2 GB (like so many older devices). Therefore newer SDHC cards will not work, even if you only formatted them to 2G.

sorry about that - I was in a hurry.
The SD card should appear like a drive on your PC (I agree that it also probably has to be 2GB (BeoSound 2) or 4GB (? BeoSound 3 or 4 ?) and not higher).
Which you look at the "drive" it should not have a list of MP3 files.
It should have a list of folders (directories), and inside each of those should be the MP3 files.
So you want an effect like this - but I am making an educated guess on how I know my BS2 and BS4 work, and I a presuming the BS3 fits the mould.
