My BeoTime was working fine with fairly new batteries in until recently when it suddenly stopped. I went to change the batteries and they had all corroded. New batteries wouldn't work. Unfortunately it is out of warranty and I was told it was not cost effective to repair via my local dealer.

Has anyone experienced this and had any joy getting it working again?

Since you said it was working until you changed the batteries, I think the circuit boards are probably ok. But the coating of junk on the battery terminals is probably so thick its preventing new batteries from making good contact. I restored a Sony RM-AV3000 touchscreen remote control with a MAJOR battery leak to fully functional condition with old fashioned elbow grease just chipping away at the corrosion with a small screw driver and a moist q-tip and opening the unit so that all the left over pieces fell out. It looked TERRIBLE and I never figured it would work again, but it was just find after cleaning it.

I'm sure someone can chime in with a better and faster chemical solution (vinegar, who knows) you can use to remove the buildup of battery corrosion from the parts that need to make contact with the new batteries. Since it's basically a tube, there will be additional challenges getting to the parts you need to clean.

Hope you can get it working again. Btw, energizer has been advertising here in the US that they guarantee their batteries won't leak or they will replace the device... http://www.energizer.com/pages/guarantee.aspx

I really don't see how they can make such a guarantee, but interesting nevertheless.
