Many members here are not newcomers to the field of audio event, although it stands out especially with the advent of the new Avant how many are still well aware of rising new technologies. Is this because of the Internet? Obsession, advertising, other channels, the B & O magazine… Or has it somehow something to do with your occupation?

I am a retired Electrical/Computer Engineer. Started playing with audio in the mid 70s. And on to running the IT - TeleCommunication department for 39 years in a Hospital. Used to be an audiophile until I discovered that I really liked music more than the equipment. As an engineer, I was always attracted to the quality approach Bang Olufsen used in construction. Then I made finally the step towards B&O, for quality, design and simplicity. Regular visits to my dealer and dealers of other brands, the miracle of the internet keep me up to date with regard to new technologies.

I'm a Senior Contract Manager and I keep up with technologies by the internet mainly. I prefer technologies I like rather that those which may be the latest and greatest (but most of them are)

Director of New Media across various international (US, UK, AU, SE, NL, IE) technology publishers (magazine and online). I should know what I'm talking about, but am far less 'hands on' than I was a few years ago :)

30 years working within Bang &Olufsen brand, starting as apprentice TV engineer - service manager - service director - store owner.

It's not really a job, more of a hobby, hanging out with like minded people....

Electrical engineer by training, now sales in hi-tech (the bleeding edge of IT). Surrounded by technology the entire day, but B&O is just pure pleasure aesthetically and hifi-wise. Keep up with technology by consuming a lot of it, and doing a lot of research before buying it.

it's hard but fun keeping up with tech, I mainly use PodCasts and maybe too many hours surfing, what I enjoy about tech is the more I learn the more I realise I don't know anything.

I work in the automotive industry as a brand/product consultant.

I might one day open a museum to house my early adoption collection of tech that I bought but never made it.

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

I am a Building constructor.

I have been interested in new technology since I was a child. I once wanted to become an Electronics engineer (or something like that) - but ended up working with buildings.
I keep up with new technology by surfing the internet, reading magazines - and talking to some tech-nerds I know 😉

-and offcourse... reading the postings on Beoworld... 😊

(and I can still not figure out why the Beoworld smilies are not working with my browser anymore...they did until half a year ago...)

what's interesting about this thread is the world mainstream media classifying B&O as the Dumb Blonde of the Audio World.... Looking at many of our occupations and how professional we are shows how wrong (as normal) they are..

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

OK ... I was flippant with my original reply and you are all being serious.

So ... I am a management consulting partner in Fortune top 20 company - and I advise clients of strategy and how to transform their organisations.

I stay on top of the job through endless internal newsletters, brown bag training, and conference calls at very inconvenient hours around midnight.

I stay on top of the industry through my LinkedIN feeds, Ars Technica and SlashDot.

I stay on top of my hobbies by Beoworld, my Facebook feeds including B&O and BeoPlay, and MacRumors, and a local newspaper insert called the "Green Paper" that used to be useful for something more than a bin liner.

I am also on numerous mailing lists: genealogy for two countries, email newsletters from industry bodies and my competitors, and various associations.

I also monitor the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, and the Australian equivalent -- I used to keep track of UK as well but find there are not enough hours in the day !

I am an mechanical engineer, in the printing industries, as I am nearly retired I dont keep up with the development there anymore, but I did as long as I had to. As for B&O I stay uneducated, and keep to the older audio equipment, but must admit that once in a while I play a cd on a BG CD50, my wife prefer the Beosound 3000.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

I am a management consultant and I keep up with technologies concerning B&O primarily through this website and news feeds from Bang & Olufsen. Then, of course Google is your friend and through my work I get in contact with new technologies, both through chatting with colleagues / clients but ask from newsletters etc. I read a lot...

I work as a management consultant where my areas of expertise concerns Innovation and Production development strategies / organisations as well as transformation projects (PMI) within Finance and IT.

My B&O products: Beosound 9000, Beosound 2300, Beosound Century, Beolab 8000, Beolab 6000, Beolab 4000 x2, Beolab 3500, Beolab 2000, Beolab 10, Beolink Active x2, Beotime, Beo5 x2, Beo4, A9 keyring x2, LC2 dimmer x6 and growing....

I'm in charge of innovations at a software company - basically that's kinda like R&D but we work mostly on bespoke bleeding edge stuff and thus all we do, we have to invent ourselves. I just try and help materialize both my own ideas but also those of our developers who are too busy or too introvert to mature their ideas themselves.

I trained as an audio engineer and worked as such for a number of years. I don't really care what label is on stuff. As long as I think it sounds good: I'm in. Aesthetics are added benefits rather than a requirement, but fortunately the two often go hand in hand.:)

I keep up to date with IT via work, but for audio through friends mostly, several of whom have both the time and dedication to trawl everything they can about interesting nerdy things. I find information on my own need to know basis.

My profession is sound designer within the audio post of film and television, with past withtin music recording,  public address and electronic repair.

How I ended up with B&O ? well it is descirbed as a real history on my profile.

I keep up with news on internet, mostly hardware sites.

I get more and more vintage over time, due to the technical cutlure of china, that things never last more then 2-3 years. Its waste of our natureresources and destryes the ethics of inspire the few that tries so hard to develop quality, like B&O

My re-capped M75 are my precious diamonds.
