Hello,

Is there anyway to get the motor hum from a beogram 8500 to be less, always used a direct drive turntable prior to the 8500. The earth cable and phono pre amp are all fine so I am looking towards the motor.[:\'(]

Many thanks for any info regarding this matter

, 4 x beolab 4's, form 2, h2, a2,a1 and a beolab 2 😀😀

Hello Bramble,

There should not normally be any noticeable hum from the motor on the BG8500, I use a BG3500 with the same motor and this is almost silent.  Is the noise heard through the speakers, or directly from the motor?

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

Hi Steve ,

The hum is only say in between tracks or vocal based tracks (spoken word) , there is nothing else wrong in terms of function , that all works fine

this is only at high volume. ( when neighbours are out Big Smile) Could be that I have only used direct drive tt's before or my hearing / mind is playing tricks.

Thanks for your info on this matter

If the servo belt has been replaced the hum from the motor (actually both motors) will be transferred to the
subchassis, the platter and the record through the servo motor belt.
I've seen countless belts that were replaced because they looked lose and the owners wanted to do good, but they
are actually supposed to be a bit on the lose side to avoid the hum transfer (and wedge shaped to prevent the belt
from coming off).
No suppliers I know of (and that includes myself) can supply a suitable replacement belt.
Luckily - and unlike the platter belts - all the original servo motor belts I've seen were still fine.
If it was replaced and you still have the original belt, I suggest you fit this back.

Dillen,

Thanks for the info, I was going to change the belts as basic maintenance but will now not as they both seem fine (no wear) .

Little bit's of info like that go a longway.........many thanksBig Smile
