Hi to all
Can anyone tell me if the beocenter 8000 etc came in a teak finish, i've recently came across this one along with with beocord 9000, beogram 8002 and beovox mc120,2 speakers which all seem to be teak finish, i also have the 8000 beosystem in rosewood, i know it also came in white but never seen it in what seems to be teak, if this is teak was their a teak cabinet for it like the sc80.

I suppose you mean the Beosystem or Beomaster 8000...The Beocenter 8000 never came in any wood finish.
I must say, that I have never seen the 6000 or 8000 systems in teak. I think, at that time there was only Rosewood, Oak and White to choose from.
Hi Marc,
According to Tim Jarman's Beocentral site, the original elements of the 6000 system were available in Teak. With the phasing out of the BM 8000 the Beogram 8002 was still available and was partnered with the BM 6000 as the top of the range passive Beosystem. I suspect the 8002 would have been available in Teak then. The Beocord 9000 and Beovox MC120.2/S120 were always available in Teak, The BM 8000 was officially only available in Rosewood or White. Having said that, I suspect availability of finish may have varied with the market - for instance Oak was never very popular in the UK at that time.
Cleve
Of Beosystem 6000 and Beolab 8000 components, I've seen:- Hundreds in palisander- Dozens in white- Very few in oak, (Beomaster 6000 and Beocord 9000 plus a few Beograms)- None in teak. This doesn't mean that none were produced in teak, but they can't be very common.
I do seem to remember seeing a pair of Beovox MS150 speakers in teak, though.
Martin
Hi Martin
You mention oak , maybe thats what the finish is then if there are know sightings of teak on beomaster 8000, looks like theirs not much chance of finding a sc80 cabinet in oak or teak finish or mabey a pair of ms150s in that finish, i do have the sc80 cabinet and a second pair of ms150s but they are rosewood.
Also thankyou to all who has commented on this.
.
I have managed to get photo uploaded so you guys have a better idea on veneer type.
I'm just sitting here with a catalogue from 1983. Here the 6000/8000 units are available in oak, rosewood and white. And the Beomaster 8000 only in rosewood and White. Only some Tv's were available in teak at that time.. But maybe some of the early 6000/8000's were available in teak too.
The units on your Picture could be oak. It tends to get a Little darker as time goes by.
Here is a teak Beomaster 3000 (and speakers):
Steffen's mention of a 1983 catalogue only reinforces my view that the availability of finishes was very market dependent. The 1983 UK Hi-Fi catalogue available on this site shows 6000 system components in Teak, the BG 8002 in Teak and no mention of a BM8000 at all!
I will try and upload some better pics in good daylight, would the serial sticker hold some info to its finish.
OK here's another photo showing beomaster, beocord and beovox mc120.
That looks like oak to me.
I got Beogram 2200, Beovox s45-2 and Beovox M150 that matches your picture.
Very nice example of beomaster 3000 and beovox 5000 by the way.
Hi
That will settle it then, must be oak, even Martin has not seen a teak one of the beomasters 8000s he's seen come and go.
Thankyou all for your input on this.
Can we see the serial number labels please ?
Ok, here are the serial numbers for beomaster 8000, beocord 9000 and beovox mc120.2
For some reason beoworld is not letting me upload anymore photos, i will try later
Notice the T1 stamp?That's teak !
Ok so the beocord 9000 is Teak, i've just looked at beomaster and thats got P3 on label also i just took a look at the label on a beocord 8000 and got ER on it.
