The tape speed on the cassette deck is too fast. The belt is new and the mechanism clean.

Is there any trimmer on the board to adjust the speed?

Thanks,

Philippe

Problem solved: the new belt is too thick. The grooves on the pulley and flywheel beeing V shaped, the larger section of the new belt is applied on the largest diameter.

Alas...Anyway they kindly send another belt which should be ok for free...Maybe different versions of this Vortex deck existed?

I find the 1400 very interesting by it's simplicity, the cool basic K7 deck, the superb proportions...Form and function, zen attitude, bla bla bla. A pleasure compared to my neurotic Beomaster 6000 quad. I've got to find a bulb which fits the short socket of the green light, and imagine a counter spring device to smooth the lid/eject function:-)

Agree completely! Lovely design and so simple yet excellent sound. The Beomaster 6000 is a stunning design but so complicated with too much fitted in the box. Of course it was trying to do an awful lot with electronics of the age which a few LEDs would have done in a trice these days.
