Dear people,
I am new at this forum. I signed up just last week. I hope someone of you could help me with some good advice.
The reason I signed up to Beoworld is that, quite unexpected, two weeks ago I found myself owning a pair of Beovox HT2400 A units. I kind of inherited them. Now I am a big fan of audio coming from the period they represent. And I read some good reviews on this type.
So I connected them to my system and hoped for the best. The tweeter and the mid driver seem to work ok. It is the woofer that has a problem in both units: it hardly produces any sound. It just produces a kind of crackling sound in which you can recognize the actual music playing though. But it is very low in volume and distorted. Turning up the volume don't seem to have any effect but worsening the distortion.
But then I discovered that when I put a tiny bit of pressure on the rubber ring attached to the cone at one particular side of the driver the sound comes to live and the problem seems to disappear. But only when I press it quite lightly on that spot.
Hopefully some of you might know what the problem is here and if this means the drivers have 'diseased' and I have to look for replacement, or if it is possible to fix this problem in any way. I already tried turning the drivers 180 degrees, but there is no improvement so far. I thought that might help, because the units haven't been used for years and remained in storage upon someone's attic.
And when I need replacement, where can I possibly find a pair of matching drivers?
I would be most greatful with any advice to bring the speakers to live again.
Thanks in advance!
