I've noticed a faint hum when spinning the platter of my Beogram 4000 from the inside of the deck. Sounds like an electrical hum (nothing mechanical). Would could cause that. It's performing really well and the hum can't be noticed when playing music. It's only noticeable when not playing music and spinning the platter.

Certainly a reasonable thought - I suppose what you need to do is isolate the area it is coming from - a stethoscope could be handy! However if it has no impact upon the listening experience, i would leave it at present. There is a tendency with the 4000 that if you take it apart, you find more problems! Wait till it stops working!!

Thanks Peter. It's working as it should on all functions and the hum is not really distrubing. I just noticed since my other Beogram 4000 didn't have it. But this example hasn't been in use for many years. I gues this has got something to do with it. For the same reason both motors were initially a little noisier than on my other example. After lubrication and some use it became much better though. So much better that dropped my initial thought of swapping motors because there was hardly any more difference. Maybe it gets better with use. I'll leave it as is then.
