I have attached my MacMini to my BV5 and was hoping that I can play music from my macmini when the BV5 is on stand-by. Unfortunately, this does not appear to work? Am I doing anything wrong or is this just not possible? Thanks in advance!
BeoNut since '75
Thanks for your quick reply. I could probably try to do that. But I was hoping that there is a way without muting the screen. I somehow remembered that the BV5 can be used to play audio without turning it on at all? Is my memory wrong and/or how could this be achieved?
If you precede your video source selection command with the "AV" command then the TV should switch on with only the audio circuits powered up.

Can you elaborate more. When I play audio or video, the BV5 never turns on automatically.
Is this supposed to happen?
And going back to my original question, is there a way that the audio plays when I play audio on my macmini, but do not turn the screen on?
Thanks and makes sense. What is the "AV" button? I have a new Beo4 and cannot find this button. Do I need to program this specifically?
You need to ADD the AV command from the library list in the Beo4.
Press STOP and LIST together, scroll to ADD then scroll through the list of additional commands until you reach AV then press the GO button to add it to your LIST
Perfect, I will try this. Sounds good and hope this will work.
I have a related question - I also own a Beocenter 2 and am thinking to connect either an ippd or even my macmini audio to it. If I would do this, could I airplay audio without the need to touch the Beo4? And second question: would I be able to skip to the next song using the Beo4?
Thanks again!
Thanks, giving up then on the skipping.
I followed the advice earlier and now have an audio-only input defined. Thanks again, this works wonderful. Three more questions:
1) When I switch from "TV-off" to "DVD-audio-only", it works exactly how it is supposed to. However, when switching from "DVD-video+audio" to "DVD-audio-only", I am facing the issue that the screen does not turn off. It turns black, but it is clear that the screen is actually on displaying "back" rather than fully turning off. Any idea why this is the case?
2) The standard volume is very low over this scart input. I can increase the default volume for the default port (TV), but did not find any way to increase the default volume for the other ports. My macmini is plugged into one of the scart ports for audio.
3) How much energy will my BV5 consume when I leave it on "DVD-audio-only"? Ideally, I would just leave it like this, but also don't want to waste too much energy.
Thanks in advance!
