Hi dearest B&O fans,
I'm currently eyeballing a sale of a used BV4-50 with Beosystem 3.
I'm not sure what mark it is, but it has the slightly curved frame instead of the flat one. It is currenly in-wall-mounted, such that only the frame is outside the wall, all the rest is inside it.
See pictures.
I can't seem to find decent information on the different marks of this BV.
1) Is there a way of telling what mark it is?
2) Are all 50" variants Full HD plasmas?
Apart from that, I'd be interested in knowing the main problems with this set. 3) What should I look for when visiting the seller?
4) Moreover, it has a beosystem 3 engine. Is this still worth something in picture quality/speed/usability or is it really hopelessly outdated. I don't care at all about smart functions, and will have a mac connected running XBMC as the main (and only) source. I don't even care about cable tv anymore. 5) Is it easy to add puc codes for an apple device? or does it have to be done by a dealer? If the necessary software can be found somewhere, I'm sure I can do it myself (I'm a computer scientist), as long as there is some DIY guide.
I don't intend to use it longer than a few years, until something better comes along. But I'd be happy to move up from my current setup that needs 3 remote controls.
Thanks a lot for your input!

It looks to me that the panel is connected through DVI. Not sure what the scart is for, but isn't it inserted as an input? Maybe a vhs player or older settop box for digital tv.
It definitely has the rounded frame, see the other picture. But due to its mounting, the IR eye is probably inside the wall. I'd guess that it is there, but hidden, will definitely ask for this when visiting the seller.
What should the type and serial be like in order to be a 1080p model?
I can't imagine that the composite cabel (and the right/left audio) is used for a Blu Ray player - must be for something else.
Underneath there is a fat HDMI cable - which probably is for the BRP.

Why not ask the dealer (at least some of) the questions.
If it is a dealer, you can trust, he'll give you answers.
I would only buy from a dealer, whom I can trust.
The PUC's must be installed by the/a dealer.
I suppose he'll do that for free, if you tell him what you need to connect to it.
The BSys3 is certainly still a good engine - but not ready for future tasks.
If you mainly want to run a computer with the tv, I'll be more than fine.
The ir-eye is underneath the center speaker - so the panel is not one of the latest.
Look kind of cool in-wall mounted.
Sure someone else can add more to answer your questions.
If the seller is not a dealer, ask him for the 'papers' - the serials are always noted when a BV etc is sold.
In that case you'll have to transport the BSys3 to a dealer for PUC-installing.
Ask him to update the SW of the system too.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
In case it is useful, the scart is for a Wii
This setup has two scarts connected, one wii (through the composite connection via the scart adapter) and another one in the AV1 input. It also has two HDMI's connected, a black one and a purple one.
The screen must be connected through the white DVI. As far as I know, it's not possible to connect a screen via scart?Anyhow, if anyone knows what the different typenumbers are, and what I should look for in the service menu, that would be great!
Have they ever made BV4s with curved frames and without the eye on top? I can't find any image on google of such a combination, which is why I guess its simply hidden in the wall, and hence the external IR eye is added below. The owner must have really wanted it to be as much leveled with the wall as possible.
The seller is a private seller, I'm still awaiting his response.
Related, does a BS3 work with any monitor? Would it be able to switch it on and off without the remote of the screen?
Ok, I've got an answer from the seller. It appears to be a scam.
It was listed on a commonly used website here in Belgium, marked as being not far from where I live. Suddenly, the BV is located to Dublin, as it moved with its owner due to his work... I can go there to visit, or he can arrange shipment, probably after I've paid.
Anyway, thank you all for your feedback!
Secondlife:Ask the seller for a photo of the back of the screen. Probably it's not hidden/fixed in a wall anymore, after moving to Dublin. Or did he also move his wall to Dublin?

Ask him where in Dublin as you know someone there.....
I will keep him busy, don't worry. Just awaiting his responses to my emails.
