hi at the moment iam using a pair off beovox pentas with my 9500 in a small room ive been looking at a pair off beolabs 4500 as I can hang them on the wall saving space but I would like comments from members as to which off the two speakers would perform best with the beocenter 9500 thanks

Hi there. The 4500's are really good sounding speakers for their size. But the Penta's are the best.

You can but why would you want to?  If you use all 4 together a bit like 'surround sound' you will not get the best from your music.  Music usually sounds better from 1 set of speakers.  You have Powerlink 1 + 2 and the passive outlets.

The BL4500's are a really nice speaker but as Steffan says, I think the Penta's can be better.  Why not try them both out and just use what suits your room best.  Certainly the wall mounting of the BL4500's is a plus point but the architecture and presence of the Penta's is also a plus point!  Decisions.

Dave.

Of course you could buy an MCL kit plus some cable and use some passive Penta's in another room, thereby making use of the amp in the BC9500.  I may be worng but I think even the display in the Pentas would work in an MCL room.

Except Beovox  Pentas don't have a display to show anything.  Only Beolab Penta's.

hi the other reason beside saving space is that I find that I have to have the volume turned up on the 9500 to get any depth and whith the 4500 extra amps it would help

Sounds like your Pentas need a bit of refurbishing then - new caps, refoam etc.  On the right wall the 4500's are nice - powerful and clear.

Enjoy and tell us what you think when it's set-up.

Capcitors in the crossovers.  Check out 'speaker recapping' and you'll find info about it.  Gives speakers a second life and brings them alive.

I would be interested to know how you get on as well as i have similar problems in that i live in a flat and the pentas were too big so i used my S60s on the wall but the 4500 or that range would look better.

Oddly enough the guy downstairs said he heard less bass with the penta's but the girl upstairs said the opposite!
