I tried to book an online ticket for October and nothing worked so I rang and the ferry is stopping

As Struer has a harbor, try this one

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
Mark:Yes I heard this too and was surprised, with the amount of foreign trucks on the UK roads one would thought the more ferries the better.
Just checked, the best bid is to go over Hoek Van Holland or Rotterdam. Rotterdam - Esbjerg vil be some 500 KM by car or train
Newcastle to Norway ferries finished some years ago, and this Harwich ferry was the nearest recommended alternative.
Looks like Scandinavia has been cut-off from civilisation. [ Sarc].

Harwich to Esbjerg is stopping.. for good?
Gutted. I had so many lovely trips on there. I used to love Commodore Class - it was my 'treat' to myself whenever I went to Struer. It was always fully booked - and the ferry always seemed full too...
Why have they stopped it - do we know? If it's financial, it must cost a small fortune to run - or the times I've been on it must have all been exceptionally busy.

I was told with some new boat regs coming in it was deemed not economically worth it.
Im sure this will impact on tourism in Denmark but perhaps they have enough continental visitors not to notice.
Beeen to a very small place called Oxbol near Esbjerg. Had a job to do for Dong. I went by car from Holland and it took me abou 6-7 hours by car. Visited Struer later on a Sunday. Everything closed -:(
Funny thing though, paying your meals, hotel by credit card Amex, Visa was not accepted.

You must look very suspicious
Beside my suspicious looks Ed, CC's are not common used over there I guess.
They're also shutting down the route because the ferries doesn't conform to coming sulfur emission standards for commercial vessels traveling the North Sea. It's a shame that DFDS is closing it; the line has always meant something for Esbjerg (which is my hometown) with tourists and later, goods logistics.
Anyone going to Denmark? Drop by my small student's apartment in Aarhus, there's always a cup of hot coffee ready to be poured
