I have two Beocenter 7002, one in daily use.  I just plugged the second set in and noticed the tape players  flywheel / capstan turns as soon as I press "PHONO"  or  "P1" to "P6"  the tape spools do not turn, and it is the same with tape in or no tape.  Were the early sets designed like this?                                            Both tapes play ok at Tape end both my BC7002 stop correctly but both motors and capstans continue to turn even if PHONO or P1 to P6 is pressed, still turning until Standby is pressed. Is this correct? Or are both my BC7002 faulty?

Yours are perfectly normal.
Unfortunately - since the motors obviously wears out much faster this way.
Design flaw.

Thank you Martin, that explains why so many motors are worn out.

Anyone know if the Beocenter 7007 is the same regarding Tape motor switch off?
