Hi Ryan,

welcome to Beoworld.  You should really have a user manual (available on Beoworld for Silver and Gold members).

Where is the BL7.1 plugged in?  Is it in the 'centre speaker Powerlink' output?  It should not be in any of the 'cinema surround sound' outlets.  Do you have any other speakers attached?

Under the options menu on the TV, you should check the 'connections' and sound' settings.  You need to go through the menu options to make sure the TV knows it has a BL7.1 attached to it and that there are no other speakers.  Is the 7.1 powered on?  Selectthe 'speaker type' section and tell the TV it has a BL7.1.  Set the listening distnace and adjust the speaker levels in 'adjustments'.

Check the connections and the menu settings and get back to us for more help.  Also, press 'list' on the BEO4 until 'speakers is shown onthe display then push '1'.  That should activate the centre speaker.

Dave.

Dear Dave,

Thanks for the help

yes, I used centre speaker powerlink output, and followed all settings in the Menu. The speaker works, but only with a very small sound. Do you have any idea about this, it is so wired...

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

this may be a stupid question but don't be offended!  Is the Beolab 7.1 plugged into the mains?  It wouldn't be the first time this has been a problem.

Check the 'position' switch on the back of the speaker and make sure it's in the correct position - 'Free or Wall'.  Depending on how you set this up when you got it home, if you plugged the speaker into the TV while the power was connected, this can cause problems.  To sort it out, try switching everything off at the mains and leave it for a few minutes then plug it in again.

What type of Powerlink cable have you got?  It should be a MK3 with the triangle on the plug.

Unplugging the speaker from the mains also allows it to reset in case the thermal protection circuit has switched it to standby.

Are you sure the speaker is in fact OK - have you heard it play before?

Where did you get it all from - is there a warranty?  It's possible the amp has broke but unlikely.

What colour is the LED standby light?  Does it change colour when you try to use the TV?

Dave.

Had another thought as I had something similar happen.  Try plugging the speaker into one of the other powerlink outlets (not the centre speaker outlet).  On the BEO4 try 'list' - then 'speaker' then press '1'.

On the TV, look at 'menu', then 'options' then 'speaker type'.  The centre speaker should be set to your speaker (7.1) but make sure the lline for 'EXT CENTRE' is set to 'NONE'.

Dave.
