Hi guys,

I have finished adding my entire music collection to my BS5/BM5 combo. I used DBPoweramp to rip CD's and tag all tracks and artists along with the covers. Everything seems perfect when I browse through the shared music folder of BM5 on my PC - artists, tracks and albums are all a perfect match. However when I browse the cover flow on the BS5 I end up having a big pile of tracks under unknown artist and various artists. This is driving me nuts. I cannot seem to find whatever is causing this. When I inspect some of the files everything seems fine.

Has anyone experienced the same?

BeoVision Eclipse 55, BeoPlay S8 (sub+rears), BeoPlay A9 MKII (living room), BeoVision Avant 32 DVD (retro gaming, basement), BeoLab 4000 (entertainment room, basement), BeoSound 8 (workshop), 2x BeoPlay S3 (PC), BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay H2/H3 (on the go)

Try using MP3Tag on albums, which don't show up right - to see if ALL tracks contain the right tags and the cover-pic.

Or did you already do this (or similar)?

Hi MM,

Thanks for the suggestion. I already have tried that with MP3Tag - no change, sadly :(

I have tried rebooting several time. No luck. Files seems fine in the shared folder and for the most part they are ok in the BS5 menus apart from say 20-30 tracks in the unknown artist and various artist folder on the BS5 (which does not appear at all in the shared folder)

BeoVision Eclipse 55, BeoPlay S8 (sub+rears), BeoPlay A9 MKII (living room), BeoVision Avant 32 DVD (retro gaming, basement), BeoLab 4000 (entertainment room, basement), BeoSound 8 (workshop), 2x BeoPlay S3 (PC), BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay H2/H3 (on the go)

but there are many media players which do allow internal tagging of wav-files

I thought even the BS5 allows it

Here is a snap shot of one of the albums containing one song in the unknown artist category. In this case it is number track number 10... It is indeed very strange.

That's correct but what do you see when you push the pen and paper icon on mp3tag?

Do you use BeoPlayer or BeoConnect to scan your music library ?

None of those as I cannot get any of them to work. I use windows explorer and then drag and drop into the shared drive.

Why do you have the track number in front of the album name?

Usually is should be with the track title!

Try highlightning all tracks, click on 'konvertér' and choose to rename the files from the tag informations.

- you will then get an entry in the file names for the artist as well, and the track number by the track instead of by the album name -

And see what happens, when you choose that album on the BS5.

How do the tags for the track 10 look like - are there any particular differences from those of the other tracks?

Is the albumart the same?

Try Bliss music tagger. Solves everything!

@MM: Tried that - no result :(

@Barry Santini: I downloaded Bliss but I cannot open the programme?!

@Olvisab: I could not see any tagging option using this programme.

I just tried to erase the folder with the album completely and then rip the whole CD once more and do a new tagging. Same result Crying

When you export your file you have to name it and add several details.

I only use this software and can reach/find my file into my bm5 without any issues.

4 beolab 5,  beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2,  2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...

Frederik,

a test if possible:

As I understand you have a PC/MAC attached on the same network as your BS5.

Install Twonky server on your PC/MAC. Let the server be filled with the media files on your PC/MAC.

Go to the BS5 and change in the Service Settings / Music Storage from Internal HDD to Twonky Server.

Look / report what happens with the tagging

Just found out that the tracks that appear as unknown artist show up alphabetic under "1" when I choose "song" in the menus of the BS5.

BeoVision Eclipse 55, BeoPlay S8 (sub+rears), BeoPlay A9 MKII (living room), BeoVision Avant 32 DVD (retro gaming, basement), BeoLab 4000 (entertainment room, basement), BeoSound 8 (workshop), 2x BeoPlay S3 (PC), BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay H2/H3 (on the go)

Above I asked the question:

"Why do you have the track number in front of the album name?

Usually is should be with the track title!"

You did not answer that question?

Hi MM,

Can you show or explain me how your files are tagged though MP3Tag? I am not sure that I understand what you mean.

Hi Frederik,

there are several tutorials online on Youtube or on Vimeo.

Maybe start with this one: http://vimeo.com/8710111

Also the 'Help site' of the program is very informative:

http://help.mp3tag.de/start_firststeps.html

But please return with more specific questions, once you have an overview of the program.

I've been using that for years with my FLAC files - keeping a small Windows laptop even after I changed to Mac in general Embarrassed

Great news! Everything is now working Laughing I had to download another ripping programme and rip the numbers in the "unknown artist" category once more, then re-tag them using MP3tag and then voi la. I am so happy Stick out tongue

Great to hear. I am actually using MediaMonkey for tagging (and converting FLAC to mp3 for use on mobile phones). But main thing is that it Works for you.
