Dear members,

I have discovered that some (not many - one or two?) wires are, i.e. were, wrapped/fixed with adhesive tape inside of the Beogram 4000. Not sure whether this is original but appears to be (in fact, I think that the Beogram 4000 has never been opened or had work being performed on it). One adhesive tape has come lose over the years and was touching the bottom of the platter causing some disturbing sound. I can't see any obvious function of the tape. Does it have any? Or can I just remove it?

Greetings,

Kai

Hi Kai,

one possible reason for the tape wrapping is to stop the individual wires coming loose and being rubbed by the sub-platter - potentailly leading to a break in the insulation and arcing.  If they are wrapped, I would just use some electrical tape and rewrap them and make sure they are kept well away from any moving parts.

Dave.

Hi Dave,

yes, probably that's the reason. Actually it was a short strip of electrical tape. However, I saw no need to fix anything because all wires are well beneath the subplatter. Actually, I would no have a hard time finding the place where the electrical tape initially was from my memory.

Greetings,

Kai
