the beovision 7 55" is arrived and it's amazing. My wife is not happy... she said "It's to big". Thus do I have to divorce? Solutions?!
Never complain when a wife says 'it's too big'!
Option 1: Trade it in against the same size picture but a smaller TV i.e. the Avant 55".
Option2: let her get used to it by allowing her to watch lots of girlie movies.
Option 3: Trade in the wife for a newer model!
I don't envy you having to make a choice. Surprised she wasn't involved in the decision making process though. You should get her onboard beforehand.
Dave.
Haha role reversal for me! I had a girlfriend who bought a 46" LCD TV a few years back and I hated the monstrosity! She thought it was excellent. I realised that she was lacking in class!
I dumped the girlfriend!
55" TV is huge!!!
I love my wife! She is great... but I also love my new mega Big Beovision 7 55"... I should have bought a Leica M with a summarit 50 2.5... almost the same price (5k) smaller... and ssssshhhh... I can hide from my wife sight!!!
I say keep the tv and over time I'm sure your wife will get used to it!
Beoplay A2
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Glad to hear how you feel for your wife. I suppose it partly depends on the size of room you have. We have a huge room so it's OK. She will grow to love it I'm sure. If she loves you the same, she will get to like it too.
agree there when I bought our 28 inch avant to big after a while didn't notice, then same again with beovision 3 32inch same result, bevision 11 same result but likes more now as cables in the sock surface area of tv bigger so does not see the cables , one happy wife

Just tell her that because the TV is big it makes her butt look smaller...

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

I hope she realises what a lucky escape she had!!
Ban boring signatures!
Oh Paul! lol, just because of the TV doesn't necessarily mean one is lacking in class! :-P
Puncher: now now :-p
To the OP, i'm sure she will come to get used to the bigger size :-) If i were you i would put the TV in a spot where there is the longest wall that way the TV is dwarfed by the wall and then go from there.

Now married to a pipe and slippers kind of guy.

I had the same issue when I bought my Penta's.
My code to life is buy 1st then have the argument as I could ask her permission have the argument still go ahead with the purchase and have another argument.
1 less argument and I still have what I want [;)....]
we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
I'm more of a 'it's only temporary' kind of guy. She gets used to it being there
If you think nobody cares, try missing a couple of payments.
Good news for you guys. No way, I have to sell the beovision. Bargain price.
Either sell it or grow a pair...
I suppose you could keep the TV at your mistress's house..
If the TV were not in a "public" part of your abode, would that be a suitable compromise? I have a 100" projector screen in the basement along with all of my audio & video gear and thousands of records and CDs. There's no reason to be in this room unless one is going to watch video or listen to audio. The point is no one has to see it unless they want to see it.

That's a good approach, make a dedicated media room if possible. Man cave so to speak. I guess I'm fortunate in that my wife has always never minded about any of the oddball electronics and TVs I've had over the years, though she likes the B&O stuff far better than any of my more traditional hifi stuff.
So this the end of the story: we decided together to buy a second hand beovision 10 46 for almost the same price of the beovision 7 55 (I will add 500 euros for the exchange).
the 7 55 is a really beautiful tv but probably too big for a single a little loft.
one more thing: this was my grist led after 15 years of the old tube technology: I hope that in 10 years the technology will reach good results, similar to the tube, for now the quality is really under my aspecative
When the tv doens't fit it doesn't fit, and you have to exchange it for a smaller one. On the other hand, when it does fit, it is amazing how soon you get used to the size of a new tv. I remember we were shocked by the size of our new BV when it arrived to replace a 46" Samsung back in March. Now we consider it completely normal, if not a little too small. People say the 7-55 is very bulky, I only know the 11-55 which is much flatter, but I would think twice before exchanging it for a 10-46. Especially if you have to pay additional money.
Regarding the picture quality, from my point of view a modern 55" LCD outperforms every old crapy CRT by far. But you must migrate to digital reception, you can no longer use analogue cable, that looks awfull. So make sure a digital tuner is built into the BV10, that is a very expensive option for the BV10 and a major drawback against the BV11 where you only have to insert a smart card.

I went from a 31 inch square tube set, to a 42 inch widescreen plasma, to a 65 inch plasma. It's amazing how rapidly you get used to a big set, especially as it gives you a much more cinematic experience.
