Beolab 4 (The Powerlink Version - not the PC Version) - which 3.5mm cable do I need to connect to computer?

I moved last december to my new house, since then my old rear speakers (Beolab 4) were just sitting on a shelf because I never did a full re-install of my old surround set-up.

A few weeks ago my iMac which I frequently used to listen to music had critical failure and I bought a new Macbook Pro 13" Retina. Although I like the machine for work - I hate the sound of those crappy Speakers.

So Yesterday I had them all three in view: The Macbook, and the two Beolab 4. I took a 2x 3.5mm cable and connected it to one Beolab 4 (it has both the Powerlink and the 3.5mm socket). I was impressed by the good sound (as a PC-Speaker).

My question is: What kind of Y-cable do I need exactly to connect both Beolab 4 to my computer? All 3 connectors have to be 3.5mm but I do not know if it can happen that I get the wrong cable?

And is there any possibility to get a nice table stand for these speakers? Actually I do not like them standing just low on the table.

Thanks for your help! As soon as my new Setup (I am going to put the Macbook in a box under the table and will use a LG 34" 21:9 monitor) is ready, I am going to Post pictures.

Hi

I have the same setup the 13" MBP with the BeoLab 4 PC version though, not the PL version.

Basically the Y cable you need is http://soundsheavenly.com/beolab-4-and-4pc/79--trs-2trs-lab-4-.html  Just ping Steve at Sounds Heavenly a message.

I bought the above cable from him last week.  I had an el cheapo before and it just pails in comparison to this cable, and its great.

I also love the 4PC.  I think i prefer it to the BS8 which i loved and many other speakers.

Can't wait to see your setup

Thank you very much! I know there is a desk stand for the beolab 3 available - I think it must be possible to connect it to the Beolab 4 with an adapter. What do you think  - could this be nice for a working space or will it lift the speakers to much up?

It's this table stand:

NTMF:

I think the downward base port helps the sound when the Lab 4s are hunkered down on the right kind of surface.

But if you want elevation, you might want to look at this as well as your own link

That is a good point - I did not think of that.

Would be sad to invest in the table stand and get a not optimal result

I think using the table stand with a custom built adapter would also get messy in regards to the cables. That is why I like the idea of using the lab 3 floor stands with and adapter, just scored a set for my Lab 4 from Ebay courtesy of Lifestyle AV.

One the Beolab 4 with ML you have the positioning switch, so you can adjust the bass in case they are not flat on the floor. Most likely though they will sound best on a table top.

Cheers

JK
