Hello,
I could not resist to share with you after this Beautiful and immaculate Beomaster has been brought back to life.
This one is nearly in pristine condition, amazing after more than 40 years.
I must admit it is one of my favourite considering the aesthetic and sounding.
However you have to deserve it and "fight" with this beauty before enjoying, special mention to the string and associated, it is really a four hands partition.

After revamping this BM2000, it is working fine except one thing as follows.
The FM dial is very often, blocking at approx half way sometimes anywhere.
I am wondering if there is any trick to avoid this when putting back the cover. The mechanism: variable capacitor, dial string, and pulleys are working fine and smoothly when the 2000 is open. Should I lift the whole cover?
Any advise and recommandation welcomed.

I bet it gets caught at some tall component below once you put the top half of the unit back on. I had the same problem and unfortunately cannot remember exactly what it was, but something in the moving parts is not properly in place... I think it was the wiring to the dial pointer light bulb that was hanging too low?

I have an other one which is fine but I am scared to open it to see the differences if any.
I would not like to have to fight with two...
The case Mika describes I have seen a couple of times as well.The dial pointer lamp is not sat deep enough in the pointer plastic and/or its leads foul on something beneath it.It travels very close above the tuner IF cases etc.

I agree getting the cover back on and aligned properly is a pain - that's why I'm not willing to open mine for reference
In my case, the culprit was not right at the bulb, but further down the wiring. I seem to recall that there is a long (spring loaded?) steel wire thingy that is supposed to keep the cablework flat against the back of the dial, and I had it installed wrong or the cable was not attached to it properly.
OK understood because the rest is fixed the wires stay closely to the upper part of the case.
The explanation is the pointer lamp I put in place is too long, it is a bulb with a grey plastic similar to the one for the stereo indicator of the BM4000.
Exactly I am not willing to open up the other one I have as well...
I will check again this wiring and associated spring.

Actually there was some parts of a previous bulb installed there some time back!
It did prevent from installing the bulb completely deep enough.
The original lamp often sit very solidly in the pointer plastic, it will almost always shatter if you try to pull it out.Break it and pull out the old innards. Put a suitable sized drill bit between your fingers and carefully drillout the remains of the original lamps glass envelope.Do it outside over the dustbin or vacuum clean thoroughly afterwards. Those little glass splinters fly everywhere.
OK Martin done a lot of dust but there is room now for a suitable bulb.
I am looking forward to it.
