Well...against my better judgment, I decided to stick with Bang and Olufsen, I traded in my Beovision 10-46 and bought a new avant 55...wow...great tv....the stand is amazing, great sound, great picture...smarttv platform a disaster, very poor...NO NETFLIX!!!! but all and all, what a great tv.

then I decided to simplify my sound at home, got an A9...very cool design....impressive sound....I should mention...I am a windows phone guy....so guess what....A9 does not work, spotify or no spotify...what an awful experience...this one I regret completely.  hard to set up...with the network...oh...and add the detail I cant listen music with it...yeah...

anyway just wanted to share with you guys...still a B&O guy...but...still some really annoying things happening. BTW bought a Sony 65" 4k for downstairs, new model,.......spectacular...wow!

Sometimes it might be better to carefully check new stuff before buying....

I never got DLNA to work with the A9 be it with the Lumigon T2 or my wife's LG G3, hence why I now have an IPhone 6. It just worksWink

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

About the A9. It's clear that the Beoplay A9 support Airplay and DLNA so if you're phone is one of this it will work great. But if you're did not have of those it would me almost impossible to stream music as most of the brands out there use dlna or Airplay.

if you build in an apple tv in you're avant you will have a great netflix function. if the standard is outdated in a few years just replace the apple tv instead of the whole tv.

The answer from Ralf is correct - but too short!

There are some DLNA app's for the WinPhone platform - in case TDB happens to have his music stored on a NAS on on a pc.

Buying a small (16gb) iPod Touch could 'solve' the problem for now - Spotify Connect....and NetRadio stations (through AirPlay).

It is also nice to know that - if an AppleTV box is connected to the Avant, this can be configured to use the A9 as a speaker (the AirPlay function of it). The A9 probably is in another room.

Further - the A9 has a line-in, which might be used for the headphone output of the WinPhone (or another source).

Some of us are lucky enough to live near a B&O store where we can wear out our welcome by testing stuff ... Others have to rely on reading specs ... And I get headaches trying to work out DLNA Stick out tongue

My own DLNA experiment is a Sony BR player that's a boat anchor ... Luckily I only wasted $100.

@MM -- some of your suggestions were really cool -- especially the ATV AirPlay to the A9 ! Also true therefore from iTunes wirelessly.

How do you send your Apple TV sound to the AirPlay speaker ? What settings do you use? Unsure

While something is playing press and hold (GO) on your Beo4 - you should get a small menu pop up in the Apple interface with options like "Play Next" - scroll down until hidden menu options appear - select something like "Speakers" - you should then see a second list that contains the names of other AirPlay devices - select what you want Smile

If I were in the same situation as TDB, I would go for an iPod Touch or an iPad Mini.

I would think of it - and use it - as a part of my video/audio system, and use the WinPhone as a phone.

Having a WinPhone does not exclude having a 'controller' for audio/video!

No doubt that the iDevices are better for this.

Using a DLNA app like the 8Player or the (good old) PlugPlayer for more Win-based streaming (including to the BV Avant), and AirPlay for streaming Spotify etc to the A9 (and the ATV.

With regards to the costs for the Avant and the A9, what you would spend for the iDevice is a no-brainer.

If you read or search the forum you will see several people have already reported on the A2.  Yes, it is worth it in my opinion.

Dave.
