Dear Community,

I`m thinking of buying the disc-shaped (20cm) " ACTIVE AM Antenna 10"    to improve the poor local reception on my BC9500.

This Antenna is fairly rare !   Last  sold 1993.   Can anyone suggest what one might have to pay to get a functional example.   Any suggestion for  sourcing the part also very welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Zorb.

I sold one about 2 yrs. ago and was surprised to get 78 Euro for it...

So, the one on ebay.co.uk is a fair price imho.

Best regards

Ralf

Hi ralf,

many thanks for your swift reply and for the Ebay-tip !!

I just bought this antenna from a very pleasant and cooperative seller.

If it's indeed as good as advertised I'll be really chuffed !

all the best.

Zorb.

I have one and am not that impressed. To be honest, a well placed piece of wire of a reasonable length is just as good. I also now use DAB which gets me the stations previously available on AM only and the quality, although not up to the best of FM, is far better than AM. The availability of digital via STBs means that I cannot see AM being useful for anything but portable radios now.
