Hi All,

My turn to ask YOU a question!!

I'm almost totally focused on Apple in my own home and have limited experience when it comes to all things Android, but I've got a customer who needs your collective sagely advice on these matters..

The television will be a BeoVision 10, probably a 46" - and here's the dream scenario....

1) The device will connect to a HDMI input on his TV

2) The device can store his DVD's. He's happy to manually pop them all in a slot one after the other, rip them into a HDD and retire the physical discs to the loft.

2) He wants to be able to stream music from his Android Smart Phone and Android Tablet to the unit and hear it through the TV (which will have Penta 3's as fronts and BL6000 as rears so needs to be decent quality)

3) It shouldn't cost the earth!

So, that's the scenario... Is there such a device, and if so what would you recommend!

Many Thanks

Lee

Hi 9 Lee,

this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/WD-WDBPUF0000NBK-EESN-TV-Media-Player/dp/B00KHL6CFE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1416310226&sr=8-2&keywords=Wd+tv+live+hub

should do the trick.

He would have to rip the DVD's externally on a pc and connect a HD with the files to the player.

He needs a DLNA client/app on his Android thingy.

(Apart from bluetooth) DLNA is the only way to stream music - if you are not into Apple Smile

You might get other suggestions from other users as well - there are lots of those player-solutions out there.

With a puc connection not a bad solution.

A PS3/4 would work too

Okay - many thanks!

Question... is there a unit like that with an inbuilt DVD drive and HDD?  A nice, clean 'all-in-one' solution would be optimum..

The Dune player:

But you can't rip directly on that!

Check out www.mozaex.com

I have one. Does exactly what you're asking.

And rips Blu rays too

9 Lee wrote in his initial post:

Now - I am well aware, that this could mean different things to different people.

But the mozaex things are quite pricy (imo).

Never the less - how about a Kaleidescape solution Big Smile

@Toby

That is surely a neat thing - the user interfaces have gotten quite fancy nowadays Smile

One of the things on the 'wishlist' for the box, was the possibility for the costumer to stream his music to it.

Can the DF solution act as a renderer and let him play his music from his Android thingies?

That is one of the only problems with it, I got round this by using a bluetooth reciever connect to it.

It is a great peice of kit, but the company went bust due to legal reasons with the film nsturty not likeing the device being able to rip dvd's!
