Hi, I just started working on Beosound Ouverture's this month. As it's not a model I used to support, I would appreciate any suggestions.
This one that's come in, doesn't detect CDs. It will spin slightly, and that's all. From experience with other CD players, following thorough clean of the optical lens, have diagnosed fault with the laser and have ordered replacement part. Is there anything else on these models that I should look out for? My experience is limited to older CD players and DVD1. I have another couple scheduled to come in for repair but with different problems - Cassette issue on 1 and door mechanism on another which are no problem.
If it's the "CDM12 IND" laser module, there are around half a dozen surface mount electrolytic capacitors on the PCB and I frequently find one or more of these are showing visible signs of failure (bulging). I usually replace these first before even considering replacing the laser as this can sometimes be enough to resolve the issue (easiest to just grab them with pliers and twist to remove, and as there is sufficient space, I just solder radial electrolytics in their place rather than replacing with new SMD capacitors).
Martin.
Thanks Martin, that's just what i was hoping to hear. I prefer to be able to treat the cause before replacing parts.
Looking forward to completing repairs.
