Does anyone have any idea how to make the app find the TV?

They are patently on the same network, as I have but one router. Obviously the iPhone is Wifi and the Avant is wired, but they both have internet connectivity, and an iNet scan on the phone shows the Avant..

Thoughts?

Hooray that B&O have finally seen sense and made the app iPhone compatible. Used it twice on an iPad and went back to using the Beo4.

Boo that it doesn't seem to work!

"No Bang & Olufsen products detected on this network" Stays stuck with that message.

Hey ho.

Be sure that the tv is set to 'wake on LAN' - the power saving option must be turned off.

P.S.. How many BeoRemote app threads do we need - there already are a couple of them on the forum !!!

MM

There is a tv - and there is a BV

The TV is on, shouldn't that be sufficient?

And, apologies, I posted it about 30 seconds after I got the email promoting the iPhone version, didnt realise I was late to the party...

Try closing the App completely. Pressing the Home button isn't enough, you need to Double-Tap the Home button and slide up the Beo-App.

That solved the problem for me.

Beovision Eclipse gen2 (GX) w/ floorstand, Beolab 14.2, 4 speaker Shape and ATV4/Chromecast.

Beoplay A9mk4 GVA, Beosound 1 GVA, H2, H3, H8, E6, Beoplay EQ

Did that.
Also forced a reboot of the iPhone, and a power off restart of the Avant, and the router..

What software version does your TV have? You need the very latest version that was made available on Monday.

Hi,

to see whether there is a problem on you network configuration you can do the following:

- download a Bonjour/Zeroconf scanner from AppStore e.g. https://appsto.re/de/5Jkns.i
- turn on your TV
- start the scanner app and look for an service called "_beoremote._tcp."
- select this service and see whether it can be resolved
- you should then see some details such as the TV's IP and MAC

If this is not the case you might have a problem somewhere within your network.

BR,
BeoMotion.

Have you checked whether you have a network  connection from the TV? I seem to have lost mine since the update. WLAN as we'll as LAN. Have not tried to unplug the TV though. Needless to say all other devices I have can connect to the network.

Hadn't thought of Bonjour, but I ran the test, and I have
_beoconfig._tcp

_beocore._tcp

_beoremote._tcp

and of course all the others that belong to other devices.

Yours resolve to the correct ip (which is static and dished out by DNS on the router, based on the MAC address)

For the avoidance of doubt, I'm using an iPhone6.
I get the same lack of response on an iPad mini

All right up to date

Okay, that is strange.

When using the "Discovery" app, you will see the hostname string with the corresponding port on the first row.
Should be something like "BeoVision-Avant-55-0000000.local.:8080"

Can you copy this into your iPhone Safari browser and see whether a page with some lines of text gets loaded?

If this is the case to communication from your phone to the TV is working.

Well, we make progress, of sorts.

Taking the string from _beoconfig it actually returns beovision-avant-55-24152911.local:1

That string in Safari returns nothing. If I edit it be port 8080, as you hinted, I get

{"services":[{"name":"BeoNotify","path":"BeoNotify/"},{"name":"BeoContent","path":"BeoContent/"},{"name":"BeoDevice","path":"BeoDevice/"},{"name":"BeoOneWay","path":"BeoOneWay/"},{"name":"BeoInput","path":"BeoInput/"},{"name":"BeoZone","path":"BeoZone/"},{"name":"BeoSecurity","path":"BeoSecurity/"},{"name":"Ping","path":"Ping"}]}

So, it 'looks' as the the Bonjour resolver is returning the wrong port. Why, I can't answer!

Sorry, maybe it was me misunderstanding.

If I pick up the string from _beaoremote, it DOES have port 8080

Okay, everything works as it should.

Communication is up an it seams that nothing gets blocked by your local network.
This is in fact what BeoRemote uses to discover the TV's. Looking for the bonjour service and starting communication over port 8080.

Have you ever tried to delete and reinstall the app?

Can you check whether the name of your TV has an "space" character at the end?
Accessible via the network settings menu on TV.
If yes, delete it and restart the TV.

No space on the name.

Deleted and re-isntalled, this time, I got a 'tap and hold to select'.  I did this but nothing happened, and at some stage I got to the 'No products'. I exited, Next time I didnt get the option to tape and hold. Killed the app. Same result, so I deleted, re-isntalled- and got the tap and hold to select.  Same result. tried it about 5 times and then suddenly I got the Avant offered to me!

Played a little - worked.

Closed the app - went back to it, and I am back to the 'no products'.

Type this message, wake phone up to double check, and this time I do get the Avant and it's menu.
The phones Wifi is rock solid - I get 4ms ping, 60Mb up, and 19Mb down, all day every day. The TV is hard wired, so it should be getting better performance.

Progress, definitely..

Hm, strange behavior.

The 4 ms ping time are against which target? Your router or the Avant?
Maybe you can download the "Fing" app, ping your Avant and look whether there is some packet loss?

No, the ping is from speediest, against their test server. Internally the network is fast. iPhone is on 'ac', and the TV on Cat6 (I 'do' networking...)

0% packet loss from fing (it lives on my phone ...), ping is 0.2 to 3,8 ms

It (remote) seems more reliable at the moment..

Now, all I need is some sort of EPG, and christmas would be sorted!

Okay, excellent network, indeed.

I think this was all that can be done by you. Maybe the app itself is the problem.
Let's see. Maybe there will be a 2.1 version in the future.

The PolyMote app is also worth a try.  ;-)
Not the current version that is available from the store since this one is not compatible with 1.08.xxxx TV SW.
An improved version (2.5) is on its way an should be available by the end of next week.

But, that won't solve your EPG problem either...

EPG? Yes, only get 2 lines showing, the rest are empty. Weird.

What I have noticed is that after a while, idly refreshing fing, the 'AVANT...xyz' name disappears . I can still ping, I can still browse the ID string, and remote works, until I kill the remote app, and restart.

I agree, it feels like it's a 1.0 (0r 2.0 in this case), and we need .x revisions...

Thanks for your help
