Folks - have started a friend of mine on the B & O bug and he has just bought a 4500 CD Player - working great, except on some occasions the door will not open fully and sticks a bit - anyone suggest a remedy to fix this problem.
Many thanks - David

Mechanical problem. I dont member if it has belt or not, but change it if there is one. Otherwise cleaning chekcing gears ect will probably help. B&O uses also damping grease in door/lid mechs, dont mistake to replace it with normal vaseline.
blah-blah and photographs as needed
Thanks a lot for this. My mate asks can he spray the sliders (both sides) lightly with WD40 fluid? He is not technology minded and I think that he is scared of opening up the system as he is not conversant with hi fi equipment.
Many thanks
David
No, not a good idea. If there is belt, it will loose grip totally. And it is not designed to be lubricated.

Thanks for this and I will let him know today. I will get him to download the specifications details from the website. I will suggest that he takes it into B&O shop Belfast.
It definitely has a belt and you can get a new one from member Dillen

Thanks Graham I will let him know that this is the fault.
Did he get this fixed ?
It is only the right guide that is motorised, the left is only a "dymmy" that act's as guide for the lid. When I have had problems with 4500/3500 lids, I simply take off the lid and the cover, and dissasmbles the gear mechanism totally, cleans it all, re-assemble / re-grease(with the correct white B&O lubicant), 99% of the times, the rubber belt also just needs a good clean in warm water and some dish-washing fluid, and then dried with a dry cloth.
Just make a notice on how the gear mechanism is assembled before just dissasemble. Take pictures, and remember where the 2 small washers goes :)
After this cleaning of the gears, the unit always is much smoother and less noisy..
It is not difficult if you just use patience and note where things goes.
