I still haven't pulled the trigger on a Beovision, after seeing all the comments with the Avant Mk1, we decided to wait. But I think we may be getting a decent deal on a pair of demo / floor model Beolab 9 speakers, and a beosystem 4 (all items with 3 year warranty, etc).
If we do pull the trigger they'll be connected to our Panasonic Plasma which we're satisfied with currently mounted on the wall, and finally the Beosystem will be the gateway back into the B&O Brand for us.
The Question I have is this: I have a Beogram 6500 Turntable, which I adore, and still use every now and then. It is currently connected simply by a DIN to RCA cable to the back of our Rotel Receiver. It works like a charm. (Obviously I don't have any remote control of the device, I don't care about that).
That brings me to my two questions:
1. Since the Beosystem 4 doesn't have any RCA jacks on the back panel, is there a simple, sensible and relatively affordable way to connect the turntable to the Beosystem 4 so it can be played through the connected speakers?
2. If there is a solution to question 1, what about sources? What would the "source" and method be from the Beosystem 4 to the turntable (possibly without turning on the television), but only activating the speakers.

elephant:I am sure someone is going to say Playmaker or Essence and explain that would also open you up to streaming. But why not a DIN-DIN cable (rather than DIN-RCAmale-RCAfemale-DIN) ? And then press AUX. If you want wait a week I will test it for you.

Thanks, elephant... Unfortunately, the Beosystem 4 doesn't have any DIN inputs on the back panel. That's the main reason for my post. Since there aren't any DIN connections on the back panel, it makes things a bit more complicated.
For everyone's reference, here's the back panel of a Beosystem 4... Now that I'm looking at it, a possibility is the SP/DIF input.
I will have an AppleTV (via HDMI), TiVO (via HDMI), Mac Mini (via HDMI) connected, which leaves the SP/DIF input open. Could that be a possibility?
The BSys4 has an analog 'AV IN' - i guess that is what elephant meant.
You can buy an adapter for that in order to connect a source through RCA - no problem!
You can - like with all other inputs on the BSsys4 - configure this source as you please, you can assign a specific button on the remote, choose a specific speaker setup/group as the default.....
Depending on how you want to setup your Pana with the BSys4 - with or without ir-blaster etc - the tv screen would not have to be turned on, when using the turntable.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

MM, elephant, thanks for your thoughts.
MM, thanks especially for pointing out that AV in on the back of the BSys4! Not I have to find an adapter for it. Now the search begins for an RCA female or DIN to AVin cable! LOL
You don't have to search long - ask your B&O dealer.
There are different adapters for the AV IN.
Hi Sal,
I must admit to being quite unimpressed with the sound quality through the analogue input on the Beosystem 4 / BV11 / V1 / Avant chassis, which is why I don't normally recommend using this input except as a last resort. A small analogue to digital audio converter can be used as an alternative to allow the Beogram to be connected via the S/PDIF input instead, which seems to give much better results.
As the Beogram 6500 has a pre-amp built in, this is straightforward to connect. If you need any help getting this connected and working, please feel free to ask.
Kind regards, Steve.
Steve.

After all the AV-IN wasn't meant for this - but basicly more for connecting a BeoCord Video, I guess.
But the question was, whether it is possible - and that question was answered with a 'yes'.
What you suggest, might be better - allthough I fear that a budget analog-digital converter won't be of much help.
Those, who went this way with the digital (USB) input of the BM5 did not seem to be impressed from the SQ.
Would be nice to hear, if anyone has tested it or even have compared both ways of connecting an analog source to the BSys4.
A recommendation for a sufficient ADC would be nice.
I'm surprised no one has suggested the NL converter. It has an analog input.
Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
