Exploring the depths of the internet, you can read things like this:

"Meanwhile, Philips Android-powered Smart TV will be the first TV to get Spotify Connect certification, again all controlled by a smartphone or tablet. Spotify says more TV brands are in the pipeline."

Are the newer BV's in the pipeline?

Would be perfect to be able to 'wake up' your BV to play along just by pushing the entry in the Spotify Connect app.

A premium service:

With Connect, you can play Spotify on your speakersTV, laptops, or other devices using the Spotify app on your phone or tablet as the remote.

Note: You are not able to play local files with Connect.

To get started, make sure:
  • All devices are on the same WiFi.
  • If you're playing to a speaker or TV, that your phone or tablet is logged into the newest version of the Spotify app.
  • If you're playing to another phone, tablet, or computer, that all devices are logged into the same Spotify account on the newest version of the Spotify app.

See below for how to use Connect on your device:

Mac

Windows

iPhone

iPad

Android

Note: Spotify Connect is a Premium feature.

You can use your computer as a Spotify Connect device. Just select it from the list when using Connect on your iOS or Android device.

It’s not possible to control other devices from the desktop app. But that’s coming soon. Try it out today by taking part in ouropen beta
More and more devices have it built in (including A9).
Another explanation is here:
Dave.

Aussie Michael:
What actually is spotify connect ?

Another explanation could be:

The Connect version of Spotify makes it possible to adress and control a Spotify installation (on a Pc/Mac or on a Spotify Connect enabled device) from the Spotify app on a mobile device.

Means: you choose what to listen to in the app, send this request to the 'device' - the device requires what you want to hear from the Spotify server and starts the playback. The mobile device is 'only'  remote control, and might be turned off - if wished for - during playback of the playlist/album.

Compared to regular Spotify playback, you can now adress different enabled devices - you can choose from where the music should play: kitchen, livingroom, bath etc. - or from the mobile device. You don't have to rely on AirPlay to stream Spotify - also non-iDevices can initiate the stream.

I press DTV to turn on my BV7, then GO to start playing Spotify.

Then I have full control of Spotify from my iPhone.

Installing Spotify Mac remote will give you control of Spotify via the Beo4.

Most things are possible if you fiddle around long enough...

Could you - please - explain that in details?

You probably have a Mac connected to and assigned to DTV on the BV7?

MacBook PRO is connected via hdmi-dvi. Optical connected to coax. IR can't none red to front IR on MacBook.

Spotify Mac remote installed on MacBook.

As long as Spotify is running, the beo4 controls Spotify.

So when I get home, I press DTV, then GO and Spotify will start playing.

My only problem is that I can choose DTV to start in stereo mode Sad

@leonsgonewild.

Quite an expensive way of getting Spotify on a B&O Unsure Crying

And - I don't let Spotify choose what to play - I choose what to play...

....which is easier from the app on my iPad.

Makes things of course a bit more complicated.

I am an album listener - not a playlist-listener.

The cool thing about Spotify Connect is, that you (from the Spotify interface) can choose where to play your music. But - again - if you only have one 'place' to play to, you won't benefit from that.

You can use your iPad to control Spotify in the MacBook through Spotify Connect.

I have my MacBook connected as a media center anyway.

I am aware of the 'controlling thing' - I do this sometimes, when I am sitting at my Mac Mini and listen to music via Spotify, and have my iPad at hand.

You are using Spotify Connect in that case too - the Mac-app has been updated for this recently.

Still - for a newcomer to Spotify, it's an expensive way of getting 'connected'.

There are cheaper ways - watch out for a new thread from me in the next days (I am working on it) Smile

Before when I was air playing Spotify from my iPhone to my ATV, I was able to skip forward with the Beo4. This does not work anymore. Probably was broken by some update. Apple tend to remove functions for no reason Sad

The Avant YouTube App can be controlled through the iPhone YouTube app. The (iPhone ) App automatically detects the Avant and plays the video selected on the iPhone on the Avant. This is how I expected the Spotify App to work.
I was also disappointed to find that the Radio function is not available on the Avant.
It appears only the music systems have full functionality.

What I meant is that it is only possible to set the standard speakers for DTV to Speaker 1, Speaker 3, or Speaker 5.

So when i press DTV I can´t have it to start in Speaker 2 (since DTV is a video source, not an audio source).

If I press AV-DTV, my Beomaster will play the sound from the tv (which doesn´t work since it is a digital source, and I don´t have any speaker connected to it.
