Hi everyone!
I was recently lucky enough to find a replacement Beogram 2000 after my previous turntable died. (I have the whole 2000 system, which is still in perfect working order.) Because the dust cover on my original turntable was in better condition than the replacement model, I decided to swap them over. Bad move. Despite successfully removing them both, I am now unable to get them back on. I have no idea why. Everything seems to be back where it should be (torsion spring, friction pieces etc). Everything lines up, but it won't slide all the way back, and is about 5mm shy of the screw holes lining up. I'm too scared to force it. Any suggestions would be welcome. I did take a photo, so if anyone thinks this may be helpful in identifying the problem, please let me know and I'll try to work out how to post it on here.

Ablaumeise... I checked the link you posted and the dust cover on my 2000 is different. I've taken some photos of mine, so hoping that may help.
This is how I've put it back together. First pic shows the top of the cover. Second pic shows the inside, with the torsion spring (hopefully) back the way it should be. Third pic shows the cover slid back onto the turntable, but with a 5mm gap. It just won't go down all the way! As I said before, it feels as though it just needs a good shove, but I'm not game to use any force in case I break something. Perhaps there's something you can spot that I've done wrong?? I really am puzzled.

I am slowly being driven totally demented. Every day I return to both of the covers and give them a tweak... adjust this and that, and hope that even one of them will slide back on. To no avail.

Did you try to put the cover "back" to the other side (Back side) of the TT "stand", holder, I'm not familiar with 2000, but on my TTs the cover steel plate connect to the back of the TT back.

Thank you so much for your reply! The cover has two steel plates... one in front and one at the back... and with a channel in the centre which is meant to slip over the TT 'stand' holder. It slides on neatly, but it just won't settle those last few millimetres. It feels as though there's some sort of obstruction in the centre. Looking inside the channel at the torsion spring, which I've replaced now in several configurations (in case I got it wrong the first time) it seems to be as it should be (in the second photo). It honestly feels as though the whole thing just needs a wallop, but I'm not about to take the risk. It was hard enough to find a replacement turntable. It would be terrible if I damaged it! It HAS to be something to do with the torsion spring. The cover slides on perfectly without it... but that's not much use!
For what it's worth, I only removed the torsion spring from one cover. Comparing them both and looking at the channel, they seem identical. Neither will go back on though. Just so frustrating!
The front plate, green arrow, has marks that shows it was inserted deeper into the TT top plate, but the back plate, red arrow is touching the TT top plate, so something is wrong there, the back plate has to sit higher or the front plate deeper, we need a response from a 2000 geek.
Thanks so much for trying to help!! The red arrow is actually not the back plate, but the TT 'stand' holder which is in between the back and front plates of the cover. I'll take a few more shots to try and make it clearer. And yes! Where are the 2000 geeks!!?
SOLVED!!! I can't believe it! As usual, it was something simple... and self-inflicted. The torsion spring is not held by the friction pieces, which seemed to be the logical thing at the time (for adjusting and balancing the the lid). So... torsion spring was liberated, and all works beautifully again. Actually thought I'd tried this earlier but it hadn't made a difference. Was close to throwing the whole thing out the window. Phew!!!
