Hi all have owned some beolab 3's with a beolab 2 sub for a while now I do like them and wondering what difference I would notice if I changed them for something like the 9's, I do listen to music loud I'm afraid so a lot of the times they're running close to flat out but not for long periods, would the 9's be a louder speaker and would the bass be enough still etc any help is much appreciated :)

Two subs instead of one - that should be ok for most people Cool

I have never heard anyone complain about their BL9's.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

As a proud new owner of BL9's (formerly 2x BL3 + 1x BL2) I can definitely say that the 9's after being adjusted / positioned appropriately will knock your socks off.

Thanks and it's good to know someone had the same as me and then has gone to the 9's and o did hear some 20's in a shop but wouldn't turn them up very loud so it was hard to tell what difference there was as like I said I running quite loud with music but mainly used for tv and I'm trying to make some room for the 9's to see if I can squeeze them in :) and haven't listened to any 9's yet

I have the 9s, completely satisfied with them, they sound amazing. I would imagine, though I've not heard 3's with a 2, that the 9s will present a much more coherent sound, the bass to midbass transition will be smoother. I find that with subs it's sometimes hard to get that transition to be done well, though as you mention it does limit your placement options a bit. Often though people place subs too far away from the satellites and that doesn't help.

If you can find room I think you'll love the 9s. A very seductive sound, smooth and seamless, they just disappear completely.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

Beolab 5s disappear completely.

I've had BL9s for 5 years now since brand new, and I've moved house 3 times with them - but they have never acoustically "disappeared". It's nice to see that most are enamored with their BL9s. However, I wouldn't say they are perfect. For the amount of money they cost brand new, one might expect them to be better. I haven't heard the BL20 yet, but I do hope they sound more balanced at higher volumes and in their midrange than their predecessor.

If you listen to your music very loud, the BL9s have their limitation, too. They become awfully shrill at higher volumes unless you leave the room. The bass becomes flabby. I'm talking about higher volumes here. The BL2 is slower, yes, but when you turn up the BL2 it is a solid and physical bass sound. The BL9s don't offer as much of a physical experience... in my experiences.
