Has anyone seen the BeoVision Avant paired with BeoLab 5 speakers? If so, does anyone have any pics? I'm curious to see how they look together. I think the TV would look great next to a pair of Pentas, but I've been thinking about upgrading to BL-5's. All the B&O promo photos show the TV next to the BL-18 and BL-20.
BeoLab 5, BeoVision 7-55 MK2, BeoSound 5 Encore, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab Penta III, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 2, BeoLab 7-6, BeoSound 8, BeoTime (analog clock), Beo 4 remote.
I saw a picture of that combination on bang-olufsens Instagram page, and i have to say it looked really cool.

Chris Townsend:Your not seriously thinking about trading in your 7-55 for one of those surely?
I don't get it either. At all. I've even had people email me personally for advice, then they ignore me and 'upgrade' to the Avant, anyhow. I think middle aged blokes automatically think 'newer is better' with technology and their gut overrules their head.
There's a reason why the BV7-55 was £15K and the Avant is £7K. Partly this is the location of manufacture (and, as we've seen this week, the Avant is suffering from some production issues) and partly it's the calibre of the backlit panel.
I don't get why someone would have spend £15K on a BV7-55 and is prepared to allow their dealer to take it off them for about £3-4K, for effectively a downgrade in terms of panel quality and audio performance. Doesn't add up :)
I *can* understand people upgrading from a BV10/11 or BV7-40 though.
4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
I'm as guilty of that as anyone here. Get "one" cheap whilst you can. House not big enough, get bigger house. It's worth it and it doesn't need to be second hand either. I saw one go from a dealer for 5,500 the other day.
Moxxey raises some interesting points and while many of us will agree there's just as many that view it differently. Personally I wouldn't let go of a 7-55 (providing I could accommodate it) either. There are several active threads where I have commented on how much I love that set. In fact, I believe it still shows the best picture from all TVs across the whole range.
The 7-55 is an interesting TV really but a bit of a double edged sword purchase. As well as being a technological masterpiece, with looks, sound and build quality to match, it also requires a huge space to look right. Of course we all have our individual definitions of what 'looks right' but for me it means a place where it doesn't dominate and looks like any other piece of furniture in the room. My BV9 is slightly on the dominant side but in a way that still works. After I bought the 7-55 (before the BV9) I quickly realised how big it was and that was the only reason it had to go. The 7-6 speaker requires so much room whichever floor stand used.
I think the 7-55 is definitely for those with larger homes and certainly not for people living in flats where space is usually always an issue. It is also big enough to give you a cinematic experience which takes it beyond the realms of television. Yes, it is 55" (only) but that's just the screen of course, the rest of it has a much larger presence.
The BV11 is also an interesting television and I am not sure I would upgrade from that to an Avant either, but that's just me. The pictures from B&Os latest LCD/LED panels are so impressive to me generally. However, it is only the 7-55 that I have never seen a motion problem on, nor clouding come to that, and motion has always been the biggest upset for me. Once I spot it going on I am constantly distracted from my viewing experience.
As far as middle aged blokes go... well I think people generally get bored after a while and like to move on to something different. I guess that's consumerism for you. At 44 going on 45 my middle age days are starting to feel a little more distant! I feel much more content now with what I have and my plan will be to add to my system rather than change it. I bought my BL9s because I knew I would be buying more and would like it all to match. The TV will stay until it blows up! At that point I'll consider whatever is available at the time. My next purchases are likely to be audio systems and maybe explore wireless. I may also look at some BL5s we'll see. Point is, we are all different in what we like and what we want from our systems. I think its great fun swapping and changing things around and used to do it a lot in my 30s especially, its only very recently that I have started to settle a bit!
Have a good day all... and ENJOY your B&O, whatever it is!
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
I'm absolutely not getting rid of my BV7-55. I'm looking for a master bedroom television. I had originally wanted a BV7-40 MK6, but since they are no longer available, I figured the new Avant 55 would be my next choice. I do like the single pole floor stand design.
I've trading in two 7-55s for Avant so far - a mark1 and mark2. Both highly delighted with the change and deal offered.
I have Avant and BeoLab 5 going out on home dem next week, although in this particular home it will be a tight squeeze - updating from BV5 and Lab 1. I'll ask the installation team to take some photos...
Chris was it a new 7-55 for £5500 ? I wouldn't mind one for the same price.
David.

They haven't got their Avant yet to compare?
I still people must be crackers to move from the same (better) panel, across to a TV with the same size panel, inferior audio and production issues, where B&O has had to halt manufacturing. In fact, I'd go as far as saying a dealer could be held to account as offering poor advice by suggesting and encouraging the 'upgrade'. I'm personally disappointed and I'm only moving from a BV11-46. I informed my dealer this afternoon that I might either cancel the Avant order or ask B&O to provide a MK3 BV11-55 instead.
i do know my dealer wouldn't encourage me to trade-in a BV7-55. I appreciate that kind of dealer advice.
Chris Townsend:Save your money for the new music gadget coming soon. I'm struggling to think how it will be different to an iPad, but if it's shiny I'll probably get one anyway Beovision 7-55 Mk2, Beovision 8-32, Beovision 3-32, Avant RF 28, Beoplay A9, Beolit 12, Beocom 2, Beotime, H6, Form 2.
Beovision 11-55, BeoPlay V1 40, Beosound 9000, Beolab 8000's and 3 Beocom 5's...
Moxxey,
Some pretty defamatory comments there?
Neither customer was coerced into the purchase, and both were happy with the trade-in deal and both have their new televisions.
Both customers are wealthy, successful and intelligent people, and wanted to buy the Avant.
The new Avant is, in my opinion, the best 55" TV on the market - at any price.
Opinions are very subjective, and whilst yours is probably clouded at present by your delayed delivery, I think once you experience the Avant in your home you will feel differently....
30 years with the brand - and I certainly don't employ used car salesman tactics (apologise to all you good used car sales people!), I treat most of my customers as friends, and long term customer relationships are what we are all about in Sheffield!
I'm with moxxey on this one , the new avant is a missed opportunity to really build a world class tv , like the old avant was.
Hdmi 2 ? Hevc ? 4k menus ? Netflix 4k ?
Wait for the update.. Yup , been there , bought the t shirt. Get a bv 11 , arguably the true spiritual successor to the avant.

olvisab:Hi moxxey You bought an avant and why not a secondhand 7 55 mk2?
You bought an avant and why not a secondhand 7 55 mk2?
It's simply too big (and cumbersome looking) for me. No other reason! It's a huge beast of a TV. I think the dual-pole stand and the width of the 7.6 give the impression it's bigger than it is. I don't really want my room to look dominated by a TV.
i'd recommend one though....if you have the space!

I'll happily give you my address if you want to get your lawyer involved?
However, I stand by my point that I'd question any dealer who encouraged a BV7-55 owner to take a hit and 'upgrade' to the new Avant, delivery-delay or not. Poor advice.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Having read the recent thread, "What's your occupation and how do you keep up with new technologies?" I feel confident in recommending a good lawyer... or two... or three!! Also a good sound engineer, pilot, stay at home dad, television producer, pharmacist, master optician and structural engineer to name just a few!

Hi
New to this forum.
Googled up "beosound 9000 on avant 55" and got to this thread.
My stup to day is with avant 55 and beo5.
But earlyer i had beosound 9000 hooked up with 10-40 and bl9. When using my old screen i could use masterlink to connect the 9000 - now i dont know how to hook the besound up with the avant.. Maybe i should start a new thread - but figurd i could ask here first.
Hungedu: Has anyone seen the BeoVision Avant paired with BeoLab 5 speakers? If so, does anyone have any pics? I'm curious to see how they look together.

If enyone else wonders how this is done (like i did) it takes a beolink NL/ML converter to fix this problem.
Although beeing quit expensive (not suprisingly..) its very neet - aslong as you have network connection between tv and converter the beosound (or anyother masterlink product) can be placed enywhere you like!
Should have been a photo of the converter in the previous post - dont know what happend (not to interesting looking box thou..)
