So I have a Beosound 9000 MK3 and when playing, sometimes when it spins, the CD is rubbing against and you can hear it. Does anyone know what part is rubbing and why? You can hear it pretty good. Can there be something done so I can fix or adjust this?
Okay, I know I figured this one out, I adjusted the positing of the arrows according to the "Centering the CD drive mechanism". I'm helping out a friend with this unit. That's the normal thing I would do, but never thought of this when I went to my friend's house and it's been on a B&B stand the entire time. How on earth was it in the wrong position the entire time? What the heck where they doing? Really makes you think....

It needs a new VAM1250 laser, there is a very slim chance you will find a replacement laser that works on eBay f.ex.
You need a new unit from B&O. Get hold of your local dealer and ask if he will sell you a new cd drive as parts. If they won't, there are not much to do other than send it in for repairs. The MK3's are a pain regarding the lasers. MK 1 and early MK2 use cdm12.4 lasers which are more available.
You could also ask this forum if there are people that knows people that can get hold of a new original unit for you and ship it.

The laser is correct, but be aware that it is probably used. I have tried many different sources of 1250 lasers, and have not found a reliable source yet, other than original from B&O.
As I understand it, B&O actually bought the rest of Philips 1250 stock when they discontinued this laser, to keep supporting the Beosound 3000's and 9000's with new lasers. So finding new ones other than from B&O is very hard, if not impossible.
The 1250 laser is not quite as durable as the older ones, but less noisy.

Find the service manual on the big net, I also believe it is available on this forum for silver and gold members. But you should be able to find it.
There is detailed instructions on how to dismantle in steps with pictures. Just be carefull with static electricity.
