Hi, I have recently bought a second hand Master Link Gateway mkII and I'm looking at blind options. Clearly the Lutron Blinds are a known working option, but extensive so I am looking at the Somfy blinds. These blinds have an optional RTS Transmitter that can be feed from a home automation system. Does anyone have any previous experience of interfacing the MLGW with the RTS transmitter with success?

Many thanks

hi corona!

look to the lintronic TT455-RT-238 on http://lintronic.dk. you can control the lintronic box via rs232 with custom strings. maybe lintronik can control the somfy transmitter?

BS Ouverture, BS 9000, AV 9000, Avant 32 DVD, BV9, BV6-22, BS 5, BS 4500, BS 7000, BC 9500, Beo6, BL Penta, F1000, BLGW, etc....

we have in the past sent rs232 signals from the MLGW to an elang or RTI processor which then communicated to the somfy via rs485

just remember the somfy has a weird numbering system for the rooms

room number - 1 = number to put in somfy rs485 code creator software

Hi,

I had the same issue with Somfy blinds and controlling them using the Beolink Gateway. I found this online and thought I would give it it try because it was significantly cheaper than the Somfy RTS transmitter.

I worked very well with the enclosed software but I could not get it to work at all with the BLGW, maybe a better person than me may be able to reverse engineer the commands that the software sends the transmitter. As a solution I added the RFX transmitter to a Raspberry Pi and used that as a bridge, so the gateway talks to the Pi and the Pi sends the commands to the Somfy via the RFX transmitter. It works perfectly and cheaper than the Somfy 485 transmitter.

Hi, thanks for this, question if I may (I'm not that technical), how did you wire the RS232 to the TRS transmitter?

Thanks

I know in the US market they make a RTS RS232 compatible controller, but for some reason in Europe only the RS485 is available.

Hi,

You only type in for example  0103U   in match/command field in mlgw  =  RTS adress 1  motorchannel  03 (1-16)  and motor UP

or                                            0103S   in match/command field in mlgw  =  RTS adress 1  motorchannel 03  (1-16) and motor stop

or                                            0103D   in match/command field in mlgw  =  RTS adress 1  motorchannel 03 (1-16) and motor down

all as output command in type field in mlgw

Hi,

yes rs232

and i wrote wrong in earlier post (433,92Mhz )but somfy use 433,42Mhz but it's the same in US and EU so it would be no problem to use the RTS universal interface II  US model in europé (and that was the interface i used)
