I have a pair of Beolab 8000 hooked up to a Beosound 9000 with MKI original cables.

Will the sound be improved if I replace the original cables by MKIII cables ?

Thanks for answers.

Hi,

No, this will give no sound improvement.

If you have any interference or the cables are run next to electrical cables it may be worth using Mk2, but if your speakers sound okay now then replacing the Mk1 cables with Mk3 will give no benefit.

That's pretty clear, thanks Lee.

I will stick with my "old" cables then.

The other effect is a low level hum or buzz sound from the MKI cables.  This is eliminated with the fully shielded MKII cables.

The low level buzz when using Mk1 cables occurs when an IcePowered speaker is being used, for example BeoLab 3, BeoLab 9 etc. The Mk3 cable has the extra pins wired for earthing, which eliminates the noise.

Mk2 cables are fully wired (they will even carry data too for Penta's and the BeoLab panel speakers) and can even be used with BeoLab 5.  If anyone is running cables under floorboards or plastering them into walls etc I always strongly recommend using Mk2 cables are you're as future-proofed as you can be.  I've had people ignore my advice to save a few pounds, then have to pay someone hundreds of pounds to take up floors and re-plaster walls just so they could buy some new speakers...

In fact, I don't have any problem with my speakers.

I just wanted to know if an improvement was possible because I got my hands on MKIII cables.

Should have been painful anyway to replace the cables behind a very eavy furniture so I'm happy with that.

Thanks again.

It also happened on my BL8000's which replacement cables corrected. as suggested by Steve at Sounds Heavenly.
