A while ago I managed to get my hands on a beautiful Beosystem 9000 (with tape and CD players left and right). Unfortunately it came without any manual or other documentation PLUS it appears to have been a bit mishandled by the shipping company that brought it to me. The CD cover will not open. It starts moving, but sort of gets stuck after a few millimetres of movement, so the motor seems to be in working condition. The tape cover works fine, opens and closes as it is supposed to.
What can I do?

You should start with the drive belts for the CD cover and ensure that the track the cover runs along is clean and free of debris.
Old thread but it's the same question I've got. The string that moves the CD door was completely off it's rails so I just spent about an hour putting that back together. There's another BeoWorld thread with a diagram for that here - I'd recommend some strong lighting and tweezers, I do origami but it still took a while to get it sorted. Admittedly if I had to do it again it would be a 10-15 minute job but form scratch it took about an hour or two of trial an error.
Anyway, the CD side now looks identical to the working tape mechanism but the thread doesn't have enough pulling power. I tried turning it with my finger and it works fine but otherwise it doesn't drive the door mechanism. I just used 2 or 3 cotton buds to clean out the rail that the round black plastic things move along but no success, even with the metal door detached (and obviously me making sure the black runners stay in their groove) it still won't move them.
Anyway, a bit too much detail perhaps (it's good for people researching fixing it) but I'm guessing the next stage is to chase the problem back, lift the whole top off the unit and replace whatever drive belt connects the motor to the metal axis. If so can someone either PM me or recommend where to get them. Alternatively, is there any chance that the string has become too loose over time? The tape side is fine so that seems unlikely and it doesn't seem less taut but I thought I'd check first.
Hi all, I had exactly the same problem with a Beocenter 8500, it was purchased from one of the guys here on the forum and posted to the U.K.
it arrived in perfect condition and when I was home for a few months I used it every day, very pleased with it
anyway I didn't have space for it when I returned to Thailand so my friend brought it over with him on a vist over Xmas, it was well wrapped in a suitcase and arrived undamaged
however when I tested it the cassette door would only go half way and got stuck, it closed o.k. But still got stuck half way on each attempt to open it
I followed the instructions in the service manual and opened up the top to see if anything obvious was blocking the door, it looked like the string had jumped and got caught on something due to the rough handling of the suitcase
anyhow I put the top back down and it worked perfectly and has done ever since
probably the same problem you have, take the top up and have a look, not a big job if I can do it as I have no electronic skills whatsover
