hi All

I've just managed to snag myself a pair of BL8000 speakers to connect to the ouverture I've had sine the 90's, couldn't afford them at the time sadly.

they are sight unseen from ebay but local with a money back guarantee if not happy (I'm paying cash on collection)

they sound like they are 1997 mkII 1's judging by the serial number which is 12709044 and look nice in the pictures. I bid £490 - does that sound about right? There are some local in a shop at £995 presumably with warranty so I guess that's about right (as long as they are working and good)

I have geared myself up with an iPod , power cables and connecting cable to phono so I can make sure they work (apparently from a house clearance) so hopefully they do and I'm bright enough to tell if something isn't right (I've read various posts about checking each speaker closely by ear so fingers crossed)

However the question is regarding cabling. I may have to have the speakers on the other side of the room to the ouverture so will most likely have to run cables around the skirting (don't think I'd get away with channelling out the walls :-)

would I be better off running twin speakers cable to connect to phono in or using a power link cable?

Also would I need two power link cables or would one do, with the speakers daisy chained together with a shorter one, and correct l/r selected. I'm assuming one cable contains both sides as I currnetly only have one connected from my ouverture to the b&o amp which runs my passive speakers.

Any advice , especially pre purchase (handing over of cash) would be welcome

thanks

There are those here with much more technical expertise than me, however I would recommend the powerlink option. Also, daisy chaining should work just fine and saves the effort of running two cables to the other side of the room.

If daisy chaining BL8000's you will need a powerlink splitter as these speakers do not have dual powerlink sockets.

This is what you'll.need. http://www.soundsheavenly.co.uk/bando-ply.htm

Steve from Sounds Heavenly will be able to assist.

I use a splitter from Steve for my BL8000's with no issues whatsoever.

Dave.

Thanks for the replies, that's good news - I'll be on to Steve on Monday

just picked up the BL8000 speakers and all good, not a blemish on the aluminium or bases. Slight scuff on one corner of the covers but only noticeable really close (and I'm talking inches)

they sound very nice, but I've only played a iPod through them. Doesn't seem to be any problem with operation, all speakers sound like they are working, so for under £500 I'm a happy chap.

unfortunately we now need a new cabinet to match and swap the tv for a black one (in the garage)

need a full set of the rubber feet if anyone has suggestions as to where I could get any (I'll put a wanted add in later)

cant wait to get them connected up now
