I was upset that I could not use Airplay and I am not about to upgrade the the new deosound just to get it so this is what I did do:

I bought a BT mini receiver (about  $20), plugged it in the BS 8  and voila, I have Airplay. Well almost.  It plays well to about 5m.

This is great! Are you using a 30 pins BT receiver? What is the brand? I've already tried 2 types in the market but just couldn't found work with my Beosound 8.

If money saving is not the biggest part of your 'upgrading' troubles, buy a (second hand) Playmaker.

Plug that (using PL-out via adapter and the PM in fixed line-out) into the line-in of the BS8.

Then you have real AirPlay and a free autosense line-in connection (on the Playmaker) as well.

Yeah. Or use an Airport Express which also would support later gen wifi standards that work generally better in urban settings with wifi congestion.

Bluetooth is a bit sound quality degrading.

Cheers
