Hi ,

I'm a proud owner of a BEOPLAY A8 MK2.

It's connected to wifi, so far so good.

I use my android smartphone with DLNA to play radio and my local music.

Everything still good :-)

The BEOPLAY A8 does not go into a stanby mode, the green power led stays green.

I have waited for more then 8 hours , but still green

now i just push the button for 3 seconds to power the unit down , but then also the wifi connection powers down... i can not activate the BEOPLAY with my Smartphone, because its not visible on my network anymore.

So, now a have to turn the unit on or off by hand.....

is this correct , or does the standby function not work ?

Best wishes,

Marc

It goes into 'standby' - and is ready for your wishes 😀

Your A8 is working correct!

When you manually put it into 'deep standby', you will have to wake it manually too.

What could be the reason the developers didn't use the typical green-on-active and red-on-stand-by LED indicator? That would be more intuitive to my opinion.

Most devices will go from green (power on) to orange (standby)

The led staying green is not logical in my opinion.

The unit stays warm , in standby i would expect the unit to cool down,  using less power.

Pushing powerbutton for 3 seconds , all leds go off

Pushing powerbutton for 6 seconds , led turns red

Can somebody confirm ?

Hi Marc,

if I push the button for 3 seconds the green power LED switches off. But I can still stream music with my IPad via airplay, Beoplay A8 is still shown in my wifi network. If I select it the LED becomes green and the airplay music starts playing.

My A8 is Mk1 (with Airplay but without DNLA).

Thanks Räuber,

Does the white wifi led stay on with your Mk1 ?

If i push the powerbutton for 3 seconds,  the green led goes off an after a minute or so also the white wifi led goes off.

Can you confirm ?

No, I cannot confirm.

If I push the button for 3 seconds, the green LED goes off but the white wifi LED stays on.

If I push the button for 6 seconds, the LED goes red for a short moment and then it goes off; the white wifi LED goes off also then.

Probably this behavior is different with Mk1 and 2, but I guess not. Did you check if software on your A8 is actual?
