I have seen references to a way of disabling remote control of a Beomaster 5500 and someone has posted a way of reversing this with a Beolink 1000.
How can remote control be disabled?
Can it be reversed (for instance if done accidentally) via an MCP 5500
thank you

Yes, it can be re-enabled if disabled. The unit still listens to remote signals in Option 0, itjust doesn't react unless it's an option command.

Thank you.
That works with a Beolink 1000 (STBY red dot = Option key)
I'm coming to the conclusion that this cannot be done from a Master Control Panel 5500.
Is that correct.
"You think we can slap some oak on this thing?"
I've just been through the "disable" sequence with my Beolink 1000 V4 on my 5500 and it doesn't have any effect.
That unfortunately stops me proving that the "enable" sequence works with this hardware or similar.
Reason for asking is I'm trying to help someone sort out a problem long distance - not stuff I've sold though!
I can confirm that Option 0 does not work with the BM5500. I believe the Option 0 feature was introduced with the BM6500, it's generally used to disable IR when using it with an AV7000. It's been a while since I've done this, but I believe you could clip connection P16-4 on the microprocessor module to disable IR reception.

Correct. The BM5500 does not have the Option 0.
While programming, the BM Shows the valid Option number in the Display. Invalid Options are ignored.
It has Option 1, 2 and 6... more i have not tested.
It is dependend on it's Software Version, but even the latest Version has no Option 0
