I inherited this unit and love it. It was made around 1980. The problem is it overheats in about 10 minutes. Any idea how I could fix it or send it somewhere to be fixed? Or should I just trash it.

If you just trash it, it's a crime!
This was a really good amplifier and deserves to be saved. I'm not a tech guy and don't understand 'idle currents' etc but I suspect a few components replaced such as capacitors and adjustments made to trim pots etc will certainly help. If you are DIY electronic minded, you will find all sorts of help here on Beoworld to help you bring this back to its former glory. If you're not, someone here may be able to suggest a restorer who could help depending on where you are? They are heavy, delicate and expensive and risky to transport.
Is it in good cosmetic condition? Does it have a working cartridge?

It's in pretty good cosmetic condition. Not sure about the record player. Looks ok to me. I work with computers but dont know anything about electronics. Whole different ball game. I would love to find someone in Georgia, USA to work on it for me.
