Would you buy a Beovision 6 Hotel edition for a bedroom? I have Sky TV downstairs and magic eye to current non B&O tv upstairs?

What are the disadvantages of hotel edition BV6?

Thanks.

Chris Harrison:

I would go for a BeoCenter 6-26 HD ready for FM radio integration and better panel.
But depends on the price you need to pay...
They sell relatively cheap nowadays.

The remote included might not be standard Beo 4.
Other than that I do not know any disavantages.

What is this? Please explain or post a link, I will try google, too...

I think the hotel version is likely to have the Business to business (BTB) module installed for use with a hotel AV system. This renders the STB controller useless unless it is removed - your local dealership can do that at modest cost if it's important to you (most probably will be unless the set has a built in digital tuner)

all the best

Hi Chris No, not in 2015.

I had the BV6 and whilst it looked nice and sound great, it's picture was terrible, not B&Os fault but just early LCD. Completely grainy with a viewing angle so limited that the person sat next to me on the sofa couldn't see the picture as well. (I did have the 22" model). No HDMI etc. I was terrible, awful really. LCD really needs HD through HDMI. SD is not good on any LCD.

Maybe a HDMI model would be better but in all honesty, TVs and LCD screens have moved on so fast over the years and definitely for the better although after seeing OLED 4K from LG for £2999 again today :) :) :)

I think that you've got to be totally lost in the brand to buy a BV6 in 2015. It was lovely at the time but this is a 11 year old design.

Paul, you always have bad luck with your B&O !

Get a 23 or 26 DAB and the picture is very good. The sound also is really good for radio.

I dont know what the hotel spec brings you or takes away from domestic spec but we're very pleased with our 6/23. We even watched the Paddington movie on it upstairs recently with our son when his sister had the main TV for a sleepover.

Here is an HDMI version Chris. I'd love one or as Simonbeo says the 23 Beocentres have a much better panel.

The 6/23 has a perforated anodised speaker fret unlike the 22" which had fabric?

Yes, there were two versions of the BC6-23, both the mk1 and the mk2 have the aluminium speaker fret, but the mk2 has a better LCD panel and is HD ready as standard (with DVI input). If I remember correctly, there was an HD upgrade available for the mk1 but I'm not sure there are many out there with this fitted.

The BC6-23mk2 is actually a really nice little TV - we have one in our bedroom but unfortunately within the last couple of weeks it seems to have died (it's now stuck in standby).

Martin.

I have one in my bedroom and the sound is great - it's good for catching the end of a film when you're too tired to watch it in the main room or waking upto music - for what it cost it's great but I dont want it for any great length of time - so for me great bedroom TV
