Hello.

After many years of wanting one, I have one :-) Bit of a bargain procured from Germany. Hardest part was passing it past the wife, but I persisted and it has arrived.

Anyway, it appears to be in very good condition, with no marks - except the volume down and power button paint has worn away. It may need a bit of TLC as the CD player sometimes does not always read a disc, possibly focus issues. Doors do not butt up and I have the familiar gap.

It is a 98/99 model, and came complete with the mounting for the BeoLab 2500s and wall bracket. I have split the system up to give better separation and make SWIMBO happy.

Considering it is 16 years old, I am a bit nervous about leaving it on standby for long periods. The plan is to fabricate an external nice looking master mains switch to allow me to turn off the lot when not used.

Here is a quick video of it hooked up to an iPhone and rocking a PSBs CD.

After pulling it out of the package all the way from Germany.

After a bit of a wipe down.

And finally the cardboard model I made to convince the wife...

Cheers!

Welcome to Beoworld. The gap is supposed to be there. The doors never meet/butt up. Leaving it in standby should be no problem as these products are designed to be left in standby. If anything, switching on and off may do more harm than good. Standby keeps any moisture out due to the warmth produced. Did it arrive with the CD locking screw fastened? Try a CD laser lens cleaner and that may help CD reading. Some don't like the CD cleaners but I've had no issues with them. Alternatively, gently wipe the lens with a cotton bud. Dave.

Nice mockup :) That is the way to do it !!

I can see on your video, that the glassdoors "needs" to be adjusted a bit, they can get closer together that they are now. Off course you dont HAVE to do it, and it is a bit of work, so you should only do it if you thinks it annoys you :)

Hi,

Yeah the cardboard model was quite close to the actual unit. A quick dusting with some car paint I had and an old CD hot glued did the trick!

As for the doors, I think I shall leave them alone for a bit. The only thing I have had to do is give it a bit of a de dust around the ports.

Overall it is a very clean unit.

The CD will need some attention. It works after it has warmed up, so I suspect some caps may need changing at some point.
