Here is my wish list for the flagship Beolab. Hopefully Geoff will read this and has been on the case for some time slaving away in the dark basement of Struer. I'm sure that our dear Millemissen will wade in to tell me that I don't really know what I want and what i think I want is not want should really want but we can all dream can't we...

My wish list:

1. Make them louder - the BL5 wasnt loud enough in rooms over 30sq metres!

2. Focus in on that liquid midrange - the meat of the music. The BL5 left me cold compared to others in this domain.

3. Consider room eq technology and adaptation but not just in the bass frequencies (studio engineers eat your heart out..)

4. Check that top end - the BL5 was prone was shrill in the top-end.

5. New DACs that will go up to 24 bit /96khz (if they go up to 192kHz that would please the technology chaser but we all know that little point in going over 64 to 96kHz.

6. Have both RJ45 digital inputs but also include XLR and RCA to allow those who do not want to buy a Beosound Moment and use third party equipment to broaden the appeal.

7. True full range (not 32Hz to 19Khz like most speaker manufacturers do).

8. When pushed to the max has as flat a frequency response with minimal roll-off at extremes.

9. Use more aluminium (+/- wood) and a little less plastic next time.

10. Consider judicious use of power and standby lights by borrowing new technology from the car manufacturers (LED  / mood lighting...etc)

11. Detail, detail, bags of detail - you can never have too much...- see PSI Audio or Geithain monitors.

12. Stable stereoimaging - I want to be able to close my eyes and point to the percussionist in the back right and throw my underwear at lead of the first violin section. Imaging just right - i don’t want a 10 ft tall solo vocalist in my living room.

13. Make them look like nothing else on the planet (like the BL5 did over a decade ago) - preferably make them look like something that fell of a spaceship that has travelled light years from across the galaxy.

14. Give the hifi and audiophile community something to talk about.

I have started saving up...B&O please lighten my bank account and make me the happiest man. All I want for Christmas is you!

When I dream about 'these new speakers', I dream of being able to afford them.

That dream mostly turns into a nightmare Unsure
