Hi Guys,

Can someone explain to me whats going off here....

As I understand it the beogram 6006 has zero tracking error.... so why do I get this result when i use a protractor?

It is odd that the Beogram 8000 & 8002 service manuals (which, I think apply to the 6006) do not have a specific adjustment procedure for the diagram you show like the 400x series of tangential turntables do. I guess it is assumed that the 8000 & 8002 procedures listed in 5-1 and 5-2 (of the service manual) will result in a zero tracking alignment. In particular the Tightening of the Detector Arm adjustment and the Vertical Parallelism of the Pick-up Arm adjustment.

I haven't checked my turntables that closely yet. I have been trying to design a handy alignment jig for the 400x series. I would need a different one for the 8000/8002 series.

Surely the only thing that could cause the error in the picture is if the overhang is off... But the overhang isn't adjustable

That's what it sounds like but, as you said, that isn't adjustable on the 8000/6006-8002/6002 series of turntables. Here is the Beogram 4000 adjustment where you can adjust the tonearm.
How did you make sure your measurement has the target tracking line perpendicular to the tonearm? Or rather, how sure are you that the error isn't in the measurement set up?

I assume that if the overhang is correct and the line is perfectly straight from the centre of the platter then the stylus should follow the line all the way across.

Maybe this protractor I have is slightly off centre. I will invest in a quality one and redo the measurement.
